This Ferrari 458 rotor passes the thickness check. It still fails.
Carbon ceramic brakes don’t wear down like steel. On the road they can outlast the car. Get them hot enough on track and the carbon fibre inside burns away, while the ceramic keeps its shape. Same thickness, less material.
That’s why there’s a minimum weight stamped on the hat. This one is 23 grams under.
Buying a used Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren with carbon ceramics? Ask for the rotor weights, not just the thickness. A new set can run $30,000.

$296,000 USD for a 19k mile Superleggera 👀 That’s about $420K Canadian.

Few days ago I asked if this was the next million dollar Lambo. Not yet, but my last post is aging like my lady👌🏼

For years these traded around $100–160K. And it’s not just this car: Hagerty’s price guide had Lamborghini values up 45% from 2019 to 2024. Ferrari? Just under 7%. Not knocking Ferrari, the bulls are just catching up.

This is my personal car, so I may be a little biased 😂 But really though, back in the day it was this, the Scuderia and the 997 GT3 RS battling it out, and the Superleggera had the lowest production numbers of the three.

Next million dollar Lambo? Maybe not, but it’s sure on the way up. Let me know what you think 👇

That tiny weeping/ leaking hole on the bottom of a Getrag 7DCL750 isn’t a defect it’s a warning light made of metal. Two fluids, two seals, one drip that tells you before the expensive part happens.

Ferrari 458, Mercedes AMG GT and SLS, Ford GT — same transmission, same weep hole.

Credit to hollywoodmechanic for the deep dive on this box. He rebuilds these for a living and his teardown videos are where a lot of this comes from.
