It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Glen Richardson, lovingly known as “GR” to so many.
Glen co-founded Charlesglen Toyota alongside Glen and Gordon Rumpel in 1988. His passion for the automotive industry, unwavering integrity, and genuine care for people built a legacy that continues today through Charlesglen Toyota, Lexus of Royal Oak, and Fifth Avenue Volkswagen.
Beyond his remarkable career, Glen was a dedicated community builder, a proud Rotarian at Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park. He believed deeply in giving back and making a difference wherever he could, never seeking recognition. Because to Glen, it was simply the right thing to do.
While he was a respected businessman and community advocate, at the centre of Glen’s heart was always his family. A devoted husband to his beloved wife for 65 years, a loving father, and a proud grandfather, he showed his family the importance of compassion and treating people with kindness, without exception. To his family, he will always be remembered as the kindest, most generous, and most loving husband, father, and grandfather they could have ever wished for.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Glen will remember his extraordinarily rare gift for making everyone feel valued. Whether you had known him for years or had just met him, he had a way of making you feel like his best friend. Glen often said he was “in the people business,” and he exemplified that saying every day.
He leaves behind a legacy of boundless kindness, generosity, and the importance of taking the time to truly connect with people that will continue to inspire all of us. To know Glen was to love him, and he will be deeply missed and mourned everyday by everyone whose life he touched.
We’ll love you forever GR.
