As we have now sold our old house and garage, here are a few things I’ve loved about this garage, and a few things I’m okay with moving in from. The biggest lessons?

1. Lighting is everything. The buzz of these shop lights drives me insane. The low ceiling also can be a little hard for getting good light.

2. Insulation makes everything so much easier. The SnirtStopper seals made a SERIOUS difference for us in keeping cold and bugs out, and also keeping heat in.

3. 7 feet is not that tall for a garage door. Especially when your hobby involves lifted vehicles and roof racks.

4. You can never have enough outlets. You just can’t.

5. You also can also never have a big enough sub-panel. Having 125A in the garage was awesome.

6. Natural light is great, windows also can break if you aren’t careful.

7. Attics are awesome, and also a little bit overrated in comparison to ceiling height - atleast for my usage!

8. The best shop is one you work in. Making small changes that you can be proud of really helps in wanting to spend time in the garage. A little white paint goes a long ways (or short if your walls are unprimed particle board).

9. Keep the floors clean, always. Clutter can ruin productivity!

10. Having intricate heating systems are sweet, but they can take up a ton of space. I would have preferred a ceiling mounted gas heater if I built it again!

Something new has arrived… any guesses?

Hint: it’s not a Prius!

Cant wait to show you guys this next chapter for Loose Axles. Behind the scenes we’ve been working on a TON of projects and building something sustainable and collaborative.

Over the past few months, I’ve had a dream of shifting Loose Axles from being a dude making tutorial videos, to a community building cars and trucks together for the love of the game. I’m now excited to say we are well on our way there!

Stoked to introduce some new faces and new builds soon.

Little weekend oil change on the 2nd Gen Tacoma. Shoutout oil.

Also shoutout - their Snirtgrabber Mat is a game changer for keeping the floor clean during jobs and making sure I stop loosing all my bolts under the tool box (this happens very often).

Been really enjoying the simplicity of the Tacoma in the past few weeks. While the 4Runner is just as reliable and fun, the Tacoma always manages to feel so much easier to work on and more simplistic. I keep thinking about a Tundra, but with the new reliability issues and rising prices of 2nd gens, it might be a while before anything happens.
