A tight turn in Auto 4WD should not feel like a fight.

This 2001 Chevrolet Silverado came in with binding during tight turns in Auto mode. These are our own photos from its transfer-case rebuild, showing the work inside the unit.

Five thousand kilometres. One very special gift.

Jay brought his 1977 Ford Maverick to AMR to help get it ready for a drive to Nova Scotia, where he would hand the keys to his dad.

Our part included an ODG LED instrument-cluster upgrade, installed and tested, plus ignition tune-up work. City Wide Radiator handled the radiator repair, and DeGreeve in Calgary handled the upholstery and trim work. The aim was to keep the car's character while giving this gift the care it deserved.

We were happy to be part of it, Jay.

2014 Ford Escape AWD Repair

This 2014 Ford Escape came into AMR Automotive with a noise coming from the rear, especially when turning.

Our diagnosis found a failed active torque coupling, part of the vehicle’s AWD system. The repair involved replacing the failed coupling and testing the AWD system to make sure everything was working properly.

Differential Rebuild

When a vehicle loses traction and then suddenly grabs again, the differential can take a serious beating. Gears, bearings, and other internal components can be damaged, even if the problem isn’t immediately obvious.

The differential in the photo has been taken apart for a complete inspection and rebuild. Every component needs to be checked for wear or damage before the differential is put back together. Bearings, gears, seals, backlash, and gear alignment all have to be right to ensure everything runs smoothly and reliably.

One Press of the Brake

I thought I was going to have to give my mechanic a long explanation about what was wrong with my Ford Edge.
I was wrong.

I took it to AMR Automotive in Calgary and started describing the strange feeling in the brake pedal. The mechanic got in, pressed the brake pedal once, and immediately knew the problem.

A leaking brake booster. One press. Diagnosis made.

The brake booster helps make it easier to apply the brakes. When it starts leaking, the pedal can feel different or harder than normal. Replacing it involves removing the old booster, disconnecting the necessary lines and connections, installing the new unit, and making sure everything is working properly again.

My little lesson from the experience? I had already spent time trying to guess what the problem was.
Apparently, I should stick to driving the car and leave the diagnosing to the professionals.

I was impressed by how quickly the problem was identified, and it was a good reminder that experience matters. At AMR Automotive, they offer diagnostics as well as brake repair and replacement services.
