Well not the end to the season opener we wanted. But it’s all cosmetic and we will be back next week.
Race Recap:
Practice had us starting with some stagger issues and left us having to grow a new tire to resolve the issue before the heat
Heat 1 (or the only one today due to an abbreviated schedule and fan appreciation)
Although the car was handling better and we were able to resolve the stagger issues, we had some problems materializing power. It just didn’t want to accelerate off the corner. Finished the heat clear but off the pace.
Fan Appreciation: it’s always great seeing all the kids and meeting people who have a race story to share. Butter Tarts, Bubble Wands, Glow Bracelets and Hero Cards were a great hit at our car.
Feature: Before the Feature we made some adjustments to Timing and seemed to get the power back. We started the feature scratch as we wanted to test the car without endangering our fellow racers. The power was back and Jassen started moving through the pack looking at a solid finish when another driver Bobbled on the front stretch and hooked left into our machine sliding us into the inside pit wall. We were frustrated- 100%.
But ultimately we got the car towed into our pit and went to work assessing the damage. The good news was it’s cosmetic and not catastrophic. Some bars need to be straightened, a rad hose needs to be replaced and some body panels need some TLC but we will be back next week.
We can’t Thank all those people who came together to help enough. Thank you Lou, Andrew, Ken, Kaela, Andrew’s dad and everyone else who pitched in to get it taken apart and loaded into the trailer. You guys truly are an example of why we call it a race family.
