Summer is generally worse for the long-term health of your car battery, but winter is when a weak battery is most likely to fail. 🔋❄️☀️

☀️ Summer damages the battery

High temperatures accelerate chemical reactions inside the battery, which can:

Cause electrolyte loss
Accelerate corrosion
Damage internal battery components
Shorten overall battery life

So, a battery that gets weakened by a hot summer may appear fine until the following winter.

❄️ Winter exposes the problem

Cold temperatures don't usually cause the initial damage, but they make the battery work much harder.

In cold weather:

Battery output decreases
Engine oil becomes thicker
The starter requires more power
Heating, defrost, lights and other electrical loads increase

That's why a battery that's already weakened can suddenly fail during a cold snap.

🔧 The simple way to explain it to customers

☀️ Summer WEAKENS your battery.
❄️ Winter TESTS it.

Hot temperatures can shorten battery life, while cold temperatures make starting your vehicle much harder.

That's why fall is a great time to have your battery and charging system tested. 🔋🚗
