We would like to take this opportunity to inform all of our valued customers, suppliers and friends that after 33 years of serving the Muskoka area, Greg Smith and Jamie Vanderveer have decided to retire and have sold Rocky Island Tire Co. to Kal Tire. Our success is a result of customers like you who trusted us to provide your Mechanical , Tire and many other goods and services since 1990. We started this voyage with Greg's father Gord Smith, he was our mentor and assisted us in creating and building a business that was ahead of its time in Muskoka. We know Gord would be proud of what we have accomplished, with our relentless pursuit of being bigger and better while keeping our moral compass pointed the right way.
It was not an easy decision, as selling RITC is much like owning a classic car; you know its time to sell, but only if its going to a good home and a new owner. We feel confident in our decision and Kal Tire. One of the main reasons we chose Kal Tire is their dedication to the Tire and Automotive Industry. They realize we have a great team here at Rocky Island Tire and we are going to miss our staff as they truly are incredible and have been instrumental in providing the level of excellence to our customers we have always strived for. Much will remain the same with the exception of our Trailer Sales. Once all trailers are sold, trailers will no longer be sold at this location, however service of trailers will continue.
It is time for us to enjoy the fruits of our labour, giving each of us more time to spend with family and friends. We will always look forward to seeing our past and present customers, suppliers as well as our amazing and supportive employees but in a different light.
It doesn't seem enough but, THANK YOU!

'Twas two days before Christmas, my battery was dead,
My head gasket was blown, my tires had no tread.
The car parts were placed on the workbench with care,
In hopes that an amazing mechanic soon could be here.
My transmission was leaking, the oil-leak had spread,
While visions of dollar-signs danced through my head.
While surveying the problems, I started to weep,
Cause I knew in my heart it wouldn't be cheap.
When out on my Iphone there arose such a clatter,
I answered the call to see what was the matter.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a call from the guys at Rocky Island Tire to cheer.
With a little old driver,(Frenchie) so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick (Jamie and Greg).
With their band of mechanics & technicians, at their shop I came,
And they whistled and shouted, and called them all by name.
Now, Paul! Steve!, Phil, Roger & Mike, On Jim, Barb and Lynn!
On Duncan, Gavin, Don, Doug, Brandon, Amos and Connie ! !
Let's get to work quickly on this poor old wreck,
Although getting it running may be a lot to expect.
The screwdrivers they glistened! The wrenches they flew!
I wasn't anticipating a car that looked almost new!
They put on new tires, they fixed all the leaks,
The professionals at this shop are really quite NEAT!
