With school letting out for the summer, the rhythm of neighbourhoods changes fast and your driving habits need to adjust also. 🚗
Kids are out of their usual routines, which means they are less predictable on the roads. They're on bikes, on foot, chasing each other between yards and not always watching for traffic, slowing down makes a real difference.
A few things to keep in mind as summer gets underway:
• Playground zone speed limits of 30 km/h are in effect when children are present, including on weekends. Through the summer months always assume kids are present
• Watch for kids on bikes darting out from driveways and between parked cars
• Be especially alert in the early afternoon when younger kids are most active outside
• Give yourself extra stopping distance, summer means more pedestrians at every age
Stay safe out there this summer, from all of us at North Island Driving School. ☀️
