​While mainstream hybrid buyers are stuck on autopilot—paying massive upfront finance premiums just to save a static 2L at the pump—pure electric vehicle technology gives you absolute control over your efficiency.

​To prove it, I took a modern GM EV out for a back-to-back concrete audit on our standard 7.8 km stop-and-go Durham test route in Ajax. Same traffic, same distance, two completely different results:

​Lap 1 (Standard Driving): Averaged 5.6 km/kWh and consumed 13 kmof displayed range.

​Lap 2 (One-Pedal Driving ON): Efficiency jumped directly to 5.9 km/kWh, utilizing only 11 km of range.

​By keeping an open mind and letting the regenerative braking system feed kinetic energy straight back into the battery every time I lifted my foot, we actively reclaimed 2 km of range in under 8 kms.
