Dash cams to be mandatory for commercial vehicles in B.C.

A private-members bill to mandate dash cameras on all commercial vehicles travelling B.C. highways has passed unanimously through the legislature.

B.C. Conservative member Ward Stamer says in a statement that it finishes with B.C. leading the country on commercial vehicle safety.

He says the cameras hold drivers accountable, and make sure that when a crash happens the evidence isn’t lost, disputed or “buried in a yearlong investigation.”

The statement says the B.C. Trucking Association endorsed the bill, noting that about 75 per cent of collisions involving a commercial vehicle aren’t the fault of that driver.

The bill will come into force six months after receiving royal assent.

Stamer called for mandatory dash cameras three years ago — when he was mayor of Barriere — after a series of fatal crashes on Highway 5.

Witnessed an accident yesterday Sunday evening and caught it all on my dash camera and helped the parties involved with the footage to ICBC with their claim. I spoke to ICBC today Monday about the video and the person who got hit said ICBC called him already and said the other person is been determined 100% at fault already. Now he just has to get the repairs done on his vehicle and no deductible for him has to be paid. He's going to fixed up and good as new in no time 🙂

This Tesla Model Y got a rear entertainment screen installed in the center console. The screen controls the climate control functions for the rear passengers as well as brings up Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features on the screen for the rear passengers enjoyment.
