🌍 GUTH WELCOMES JABBURR AS OUR INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL MEDIA PARTNER

Girls Under the Hood is about more than what happens under the hood.

It is about visibility, opportunity, connection and creating platforms for women to be seen, heard and empowered to take their place in the automotive industry.

That is why we are excited to welcome Jabburr to the Girls Under the Hood journey as our International Digital Media Partner.

An independently owned social platform co-founded by our Strategic Advisor, Heather Bell, Jabburr shares our belief in the power of community, connection and giving people a platform to tell their stories.

For GUTH, this partnership represents an exciting opportunity to amplify the stories, achievements and experiences emerging from our programmes : taking the voices of women in Botswana and Africa beyond our borders and connecting them with wider audiences.

Because the women we are equipping aren’t just learning how to change a tyre, diagnose a problem or work under the hood.

They are building confidence.
They are building careers.
They are changing perceptions.
And their stories deserve to travel.

From Botswana to Africa.
From Africa to the world. 🌍

Welcome to the GUTH journey, Jabburr.

Meet the Team- Heather Bell,International Strategic Advisor

Some people walk into a room and change its energy. Heather Bell has been called a “Spark Plug of Energy,” and anyone who has spent five minutes with her knows exactly why.
Based in Florida, Heather is a builder at heart ,of companies, of communities, and platforms that help people connect.

Her entrepreneurial story starts in 1999, when she co-founded Old Homes Inc. (OHI), a company dedicated to restoring historic residential and commercial properties bringing forgotten buildings back to life, one careful restoration at a time.

Under her and her partners’ leadership, OHI grew to over 400 workers and was ranked among the fastest-growing companies in the U.S. for four consecutive years.

Heather led the company’s image and public relations, serving as its media spokesperson and earning more than 40 media articles and three HGTV episodes, along with coverage on NBC and Fox : generating significant PR value without spending a dime on advertising.
Her passion for preservation extended into her community through service on several civic and historic boards, including work revitalizing Chattanooga’s historic Highland Park neighborhood.

Today, she’s co-founder of Jabburr, an independently owned social app built on a simple promise: creators and communities deserve to reach the people who follow them.

WHY GIRLS UNDER THE HOOD?

Heather didn’t stumble onto Girls Under the Hood…she went searching for it. Looking for organizations dedicated to women in motorsports, she found GUTH and immediately knew she wanted to be involved. What she saw was exactly what the industry needs more of: access to automotive education with real-life applications, not just theory, but hands-on skills and a genuine path into motorsports and engineering opportunities.

In Botswana, that access is transformational: opening doors for girls who might never have known those doors existed. Saying yes wasn’t a decision she had to think about. As the mother of a daughter building her own career in the Automotive Industry, Heather knows exactly what it means when someone opens the garage door for a girl and says, “You belong here.”

HER ROLE

Heather is thrilled to join GUTH in an advisory role, where she will do what she does best: amplify. Drawing on decades of experience earning national media attention…including coverage on HGTV, NBC, and Fox and her current work building community as co-founder of the social app Jabburr, she will help platform GUTH’s goals, so the world takes notice. She is also actively seeking out crucial partnerships and opportunities for GUTH’s women.

HER VISION

Heather’s vision is bold and clear: for Girls Under the Hood to become the first name that comes to mind when a woman wants hands-on automotive experience and a real shot at motorsports opportunities. And that’s just the starting line. With the right growth, she sees GUTH’s model expanding across Africa as a whole, putting tools in the hands of women on an entire continent.

We are lucky to have you Heather!!

WE ARE GROWING. AND SO IS THE VISION.✨

In 2024, Girls Under the Hood started with a simple idea: women should feel confident and capable when it comes to their vehicles.

But as the programme has grown, so has our understanding of what is possible.

Today, Girls Under the Hood is evolving into a broader skills, mobility and social-impact platform focused on creating opportunities for women and girls through practical skills, knowledge, mentorship and strategic partnerships.

Our work will continue to include our practical automotive workshops but our vision goes beyond the workshop.

We are now looking at opportunities across:

1. Automotive skills & practical learning
2. Women and girls in traditionally male-dominated sectors
3. Road safety, mobility & vehicle awareness
4. Skills development, mentorship & career pathways
5. Strategic corporate and community partnerships
6.Regional and international collaboration
7. Innovation, advocacy and sustainable social impact

We are intentionally building relationships with organisations, companies, institutions and individuals who share our belief that skills create confidence, confidence creates opportunity, and opportunity can change lives.

So, if you have been following Girls Under the Hood since our early days : Thank you. ❤️

And if you are new here, welcome.❤️

This is still about women.

It is still about cars.

But the vision is now much bigger.

We are building an ecosystem where women and girls can learn, participate, lead and create opportunities in the automotive and mobility space.

The next chapter is already underway. Please share if you care 🫶🏽

In 2024, we tested an idea.

What if women didn’t just drive their cars but truly understood them?

The response was powerful.
Women showed up.
They asked questions.
They wanted MORE!!!

Today, Girls Under The Hood officially enters its next chapter.

We are evolving into a structured programme that equips women with practical car maintenance knowledge, dashboard awareness, and road confidence not just in Botswana not just Gaborone, but with a regional SADC vision ahead.

This is not just a workshop.
It is about independence.
It is about safety.
It is about reducing preventable roadside emergencies.
It is about women feeling capable, not vulnerable.

We are now opening:

-Public registrations for individual women
-Corporate bookings for female employees
-Insurance and automotive partnerships
-A Title Naming Sponsor for the 2026 programme

Fun Fact : we are inviting one bold organisation to power this movement as our official Title Partner.

In 2024, we successfully piloted “Girls Under the Hood”,a practical empowerment initiative equipping women with essential vehicle maintenance knowledge and road-readiness confidence.

What began as a CSR collaboration demonstrated something critical:
There is strong demand for structured, skills-based empowerment programmes for women drivers.

The pilot delivered measurable engagement, high participant satisfaction, and strong community visibility. More importantly, it validated the model.

We are now entering Phase II.

Girls Under the Hood is evolving into a scalable, multi-partner programme with the ambition to expand across Botswana and into selected SADC markets.

Our focus going forward:
• Standardised training modules
• Strategic brand partnerships
• Measurable social impact outcomes
• Regional replication framework

This is no longer a one-off activation.
It is an emerging platform for corporate partners committed to meaningful, practical gender empowerment.

We invite forward-thinking organisations to come on board as we scale.
If you would like to pay 400 for your women drivers at work or personally.Hit us up.Its a 4 hour programme.Trust us,she will know how to change a tyre, monitor her dashboard, change coolant etc..Without asking random strangers for help. The world is a dangerous place.

We have partnered with Girls Under The Hood!!
This is a program dedicated to teaching women essential car maintenance to ensure they never have to panic again.

Join their group and become part of the community, first workshop is 31/08/2024 @ Ta**us Broadhurst

For more than a decade,I have poured my energy, my voice, and every resource I could gather into social impact work : from facilitating sponsorship of building the orphanage in Sese, to empowering communities through Nayang Association, to championing education, girls and women empowerment through Girls Under The Hood ,studying for my Doctorate in Business Administration focusing on social entrepreneurship so that my dream of “The Nayang school shoe plant” can finally be realized.
I have done this work proudly, consistently, sometimes with my last thebe and with faith that impact speaks for itself.

Being recognised for that work reminds me why we start, and why we never stop.

If my journey has ever inspired you…
