Exclusive Human Capital Consultancy says the decision to host this yearβs Governance Training was driven by growing concerns over weakening corporate governance standards and leadership accountability in Botswana.
The ongoing 4th Governance Training 2026, taking place at Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel Resort, is held under the theme βCultivating Ethical Leadership in Promoting Corporate Governance in a VUCA Era.β
Speaking during the opening session, EHCC Chairperson Joe Ndadi said the consultancy identified serious governance gaps while carrying out board assessments for organisations across both the public and private sectors. He said many institutions were facing challenges around leadership accountability, oversight and the administration of power, creating confusion in governance structures.
Ndadi said the summit was therefore created as a knowledge-sharing platform aimed at equipping board members, executives, company secretaries and compliance officers with practical governance skills and global best practices.
He noted that the training comes at a time when Botswana is increasingly witnessing governance-related concerns, including weak oversight, ethical lapses and corporate scandals. According to Ndadi, the country was once regarded as a model for sound governance, but recent developments have raised questions about whether institutions are maintaining those standards.
The training is expected to cover governance architecture, ethics, stakeholder relations, ESG principles, internal controls, shareholder activism and the role of boards and executives in strengthening institutional accountability.
The summit has attracted corporate leaders, government officials and governance experts from Botswana and South Africa as discussions continue on how ethical leadership can help organisations navigate todayβs volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) environment.
