⏰I know we said we wouldn't do CAN dashboards… but I couldn't sleep the past few nights, so 😅

💥Introducing KPDash running on the affordable Waveshare boards with onboard CAN hardware, available in 4.3", 5" and 7".

We built a full drag-and-drop designer for it fully customisable from fonts, colours and backgrounds to gauge layouts and warning behaviours.(Same style as our upcoming PDM)
Design your dashboard in the browser, drop the layout file on the SD card, and you're done.

✅Comes with presets for MegaSquirt, MAXXECU and SM3+ out of the box.
✅Custom CAN data?
No problem you can define your own channels for anything on the bus. Set up shift lights, tachos, gauges, bars, warning lights, alerts, GPS track logging(it will draw on screen track read by GPS data), RTC clock, night mode… whatever you need.

This took a serious amount of time, stubbornness and a healthy dose of autism, which is either a blessing or a curse depending on the day. 😄

Started from the MegaSquirt 3 1.4 source — the old 2016 dinosaur 🦕 — and built our own firmware on top of it.
Not a quick patch: reverse-engineering how the thing is put together, working inside its banked memory layout

✅The result is a proper SM3+ v2 firmware its still a WIP

Credit where it's due: MS3 is a solid, proven platform and a foundation worth building on. We didn't want to replace it rather add the stuff people kept asking.

What's in it:

✅ Our TinyO2 wideband over additional serial port — full digital data, no wasted ADC input
✅ Drive modes (Street / Sport / Race / Wet) — each one reshapes boost, fuel, ignition, launch RPM and traction control
✅ Haldex AWD control over CAN, tied to those drive modes
✅ RPM-adaptive misfire detection, tied into the engine light functionality
✅ EGT boost clamp — backs off the wastegate as exhaust temps climb
✅ ITB idle and overrun fuel-cut on individual throttle bodies, where the MAP signal is useless
✅ Coolant overtemp protection — warn, limp or cut as temps climb
✅ Resistor ladder inputs — read multiple buttons or switches off a single analog input
✅ Blink Marine keypad over CAN bus — with detection and LED feedback
✅ Stop / resume the engine from a button

Still on the list: on-board drive-by-wire and common automatic gearbox control.

We're staying on the MC9S12XEP100 — genuine automotive MCU, built for engine management. New software, proven hardware.
