On 27 October, the first international Pure-Plant Conference, organised by WE'RE SMART WORLD, brings together voices from across the food ecosystem at the BMCC in Bruges.

The programme looks at the future of food from very different angles.

Our Founder & Executive Chairman Hein Deprez will take the stage at the first international Pure-Plant Conference. In Bruges, he will share his perspective on one of the biggest challenges of our time: feeding a growing population within the boundaries of people and planet.

Hein's message starts with an opportunity. Fruit and vegetables are naturally nutritious, have a low environmental impact and are already part of the solution. Yet, across most markets, we still consume far too little of them.

He will explore how innovation, scale and collaboration across the food value chain can help change that, making nutritious and delicious pure-plant food more accessible and bringing more fruit and vegetables onto every plate.

This belief is at the heart of our mission. Fruit and vegetables combine what the future of food needs: they are nutritious, have a low environmental impact and are accessible to as many people as possible.

But unlocking their full potential takes more than the efforts of one company. It requires the entire food value chain to come together, from growers and manufacturers to retailers, foodservice, chefs, researchers, innovators and consumers.

That is why we are proud to be main partner of the first international Pure-Plant Conference, organised by WE'RE SMART WORLD on 27 October in Bruges.

Sustainability is not a separate agenda. It is fundamental to creating a stronger, more resilient Greenyard for the future. 🌱

In our latest Sustainability Report, our CEO Francis Kint reflects on how we are translating our long-term ambitions into tangible actions across our operations.

That action is delivering results. Since FY20/21, we have reduced CO₂ emissions from our own operations by 54%, surpassing our target of a 50% reduction. We have also achieved our water-use target and are continuing to invest in large transformational projects across our Fresh, Frozen and Prepared divisions.

These investments, which range from renewable energy and water reuse to our new state-of-the-art fresh food centre in Ridderkerk, are designed to strengthen both our sustainability performance and the resilience of our business.

The next step is already underway, with our ambitions for 2030 and an even stronger focus on collaboration across the value chain.

Over 40 years ago, our Founder and Executive Chairman, Hein Deprez, entered the fruit and vegetable industry convinced that this sector would play an increasingly important role in the future global food system.

Today, this belief is more relevant than ever.

As the world looks for ways to feed a growing population in a healthier, more sustainable and accessible way, fruit and vegetables already form a key part of the solution. Yet consumption remains below recommended levels in most markets.

This creates a dual responsibility and opportunity for our industry: to invest, innovate, and collaborate to make nutritious and delicious fruit and vegetables more widely available.
