আমাদের বাংলাদেশের মানুষের মধ্যে জেলা বা আঞ্চলিকতা নিয়ে একটা অদ্ভুত আবেগ কাজ করে।
An unusual emotion regarding districts or regionalism works among the people of our Bangladesh.
আমরা প্রায়ই মেতে উঠি "কোন জেলা সেরা" কিংবা "কোন জেলার কী অবদান" তা নিয়ে কাদা ছোঁড়াছুড়িতে।
We often get involved in mudslinging over "which district is the best" or "what is the contribution of which district."
কিন্তু একটু ঠান্ডা মাথায় বাস্তবতার দিকে তাকালে কি আমরা বুঝতে পারি যে, আমরা আসলে একে অপরের ওপর কতটা নির্ভরশীল?
But if we look at the reality with a cool head, can we understand how dependent we actually are on each other?
আসুন একটু হিসাব করে দেখি—
Let's do a little math—
🔹 সিলেটের মানুষ যদি গর্ব করে বলেন, "আমাদের তেল, gas, পাথর, বালু আর প্রবাসীদের রেমিট্যান্স দিয়ে দেশ চলে, আমরা না থাকলে দেশ অচল।"—কথাটা আংশিক সত্য।
🔹 If the people of Sylhet proudly say, "Our oil, gas, stone, sand, and remittances sent by expatriates run the country, the country will come to a standstill without us"—the statement is partially true.
🔹 কিন্তু সেই সিলেটেই প্রতিদিন প্লেটে যে ভাতটা ওড়ে, তার সিংহভাগ চাল আসে দিনাজপুর, নওগাঁ কিংবা উত্তরবঙ্গ থেকে।
🔹 But in that very Sylhet, the major portion of the rice that rises on the plate every day comes from Dinajpur, Naogaon, or North Bengal.
উত্তরবঙ্গের কৃষকেরা যদি রোদে পুড়ে মাঠে ধান না ফলাইতেন, তবে কোটি টাকা পকেটে নিয়েও চাল কিনে খাওয়ার উপায় থাকত না।
If the farmers of North Bengal did not grow paddy in the fields under the scorching sun, there would be no way to buy and eat rice even with millions of taka in the pocket.
🔹 আবার যে চট্টগ্রামকে আমরা বাংলাদেশের "বাণিজ্যিক রাজধানী" বলি, যে চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর দিয়ে দেশের ৯৮% আমদানি-রপ্তানি হয়—
🔹 Again, Chittagong, which we call the "commercial capital" of Bangladesh, through whose port 98% of the country's imports and exports take place—
সেই চট্টগ্রামও কিন্তু অচল হয়ে যাবে যদি ঢাকা থেকে প্রশাসনিক সিদ্ধান্ত না আসে কিংবা দেশের বাকি অঞ্চল থেকে পণ্য বন্দরে না পৌঁছায়।
that Chittagong will also come to a standstill if administrative decisions do not come from Dhaka or if goods from the rest of the country do not reach the port.
🔹 আপনি যদি ঢাকা বা কুমিল্লার মানুষ হন, আর ভাবেন রাজধানী বা মূল অর্থনৈতিক চালিকাশক্তি আপনাদের হাতে—
🔹 If you are a person from Dhaka or Comilla and think that the capital or the main economic driving force is in your hands—
মনে রাখবেন, আপনার ঘরের লাইট-ফ্যান আর কলকারখানা সচল রাখার প্রধান জ্বালানি (গ্যাস) কিন্তু আসছে সেই সিলেট বা অন্য অঞ্চলের মাটির নিচ থেকেই।
remember, the main fuel (gas) to keep the lights, fans, and factories of your house running is coming from under the soil of that Sylhet or other regions.
বাস্তবতা হলো, Bangladesh কোনো একটা একক জেলা বা বিভাগের জোরে চলে না।
The reality is that Bangladesh does not run on the strength of any single district or division.
আমরা যেন একটা মানবদেহের মতো।
We are like a human body.
হাত যেমন বলতে পারে না "আমি ছাড়া চোখ বেকার", চোখও বলতে পারে না "আমি ছাড়া পা ফালতু"।
Just as the hand cannot say "the eye is useless without me," the eye cannot say "the leg is worthless without me."
সিলেট আমাদের দিচ্ছে জ্বালানি আর রেমিট্যান্স, উত্তরবঙ্গ দিচ্ছে অন্ন, চট্টগ্রাম দিচ্ছে বাণিজ্যের দুয়ার, আর ঢাকা দিচ্ছে প্রশাসনিক দিকনির্দেশনা।
Sylhet is giving us fuel and remittances, North Bengal is giving us food, Chittagong is giving us the gateway to commerce, and Dhaka is giving us administrative direction.
একটা ছাড়া অন্যটা পঙ্গু।
One is paralyzed without the other.
আড়াআড়ি বা কাটাকাটি করে কোনো লাভ নেই, আমরা প্রত্যেকে প্রত্যেকের কাছে ঋণী।
There is no benefit in quarreling or cutting ties, we are each indebted to one another.
নিজের জেলাকে ভালোবাসুন, কিন্তু অন্য জেলাকে ছোট করে নয়।
Love your own district, but not by putting down other districts.
দিনশেষে আমাদের একটাই বড় পরিচয়—আমরা সবাই বাংলাদেশী। 🇧🇩
At the end of the day, we have only one big identity—we are all Bangladeshis. 🇧🇩
