The K&N Recharge Kit is a maintenance system designed to restore the airflow efficiency and performance of reusable oiled cotton air filters. By dissolving dirt accumulation and renewing the necessary sticky red oil coating, this kit brings clogged filters back to like-new condition. Standard drop-in filters typically require this servicing every 50,000 miles, while larger intake systems can go up to 100,000 miles under normal highway driving conditions.
Apply Cleaner: Remove the filter from your vehicle and tap off loose surface debris. Spray K&N Power Kleen degreaser liberally onto both sides until the cotton pleats are completely saturated.Let it Soak: Allow the cleaner to sit for 10 minutes to dissolve old oil and grease. Do not allow the cleaner to dry completely on the filter.Rinse Thoroughly: Use a low-pressure garden hose or tap to flush the filter. Always run water from the clean side out (inside to outside) to wash contaminants away rather than forcing them deeper into the cotton fabric.Dry Naturally: Shake off the excess water and let the filter air-dry completely. Avoid using heat guns or compressed air, as they can shrink or tear the cotton fibers.Oil the Filter: Apply the red K&N filter oil along the crown of each pleat using either your aerosol spray or squeeze bottle. Let the oil wick and spread naturally for 20 minutes. Touch up any remaining light or grey areas until the filter displays a uniform red color.Reinstall: Wipe any excess oil off the rubber base edges with a clean rag and secure the filter back inside your vehicle's intake housing.
