All eyes will be on Royal Randwick tomorrow for the running of the world’s richest turf race, The Everest, and we’ll be giving an extra cheer to two contenders who have strong connections to Kembla Grange Racecourse.

Headwall won The Warra and a legion of new fans when he flashed home from last in the 2024 feature. Jockey Blake Spriggs dedicated the impressive victory to part-owner Reg Young’s wife, Marie, who had passed away from MND the year before. Three-time winner of The Everest, Kerrin McEvoy, will be in the pilot’s seat tomorrow.

Ninja broke his maiden at Kembla Grange in August 2025 with a huge 11.3L win. Those on track that day watched in awe as he stretched the gap to his nearest rival with every stride, and no-one can remember a time when a horse won by a greater margin. Ninja will be teaming up with Tommy Berry | Jockey who is the Industry Ambassador for The Gong this year.
