Wednesday Ride Report – 2nd Sep 2026 (Harrietville)
What do you do when you have near perfect weather 🌞.
Oh yea, get on the Bmmer and go riding but I will see if I can pick up some ride Buddies on the way.
I did manage to put a quick note out late last night on FB as a reminder of our planned destination and surprisingly enough, there were a few that read my post which may have helped grow the numbers.
So briefing out of the way at Blind Freddy’s and with 13 people on the list itching to go, departure was on time and we were soon heading towards Mt Beauty down the Kiewa Valley Hwy (via Mahers Rd of course).
The climb over Tawonga Gap can be a little adventurous on a good day but some of the fun is taken out of it when every second corner is damp with moisture so today was taking it a little easier with a reduction in the power setting.
It has been a while since many of us have been to Harrietville but we made it to the other end of Town as a number of us needed to check out the condition of the Toilets. Mission was accomplished so we headed back towards Bright for some lunch.
Gum Tree Pies may not be everyone’s favourite but we all made managed to exchange money for food at this location and a coffee or drink to wash it down.
We made our way back up the Buckland Gap and despite being a 60kph zone, it can still be a bit of fun. We continued through Beechworth where we pulled over at Leneva to part company and head home.
Last Sunday, we had twins (BMW R1300GS) on the ride and today we had triplets. Can’t wait to see what next week brings.
The round trip today completed 249kms which is a little longer than our normal Wednesday ride but I was riding in my driveway at 2:00pm so possibly 30 mins longer than the norm. That doesn’t matter as long as we all enjoyed the ride.
Terry will probably be running the Wednesday Rides for the next 5 weeks as my wife and I need to baby sit a house (complete with a dog) on the Gold Coast BUT I and the committee will still be working behind the scenes in the interest of the members of the Albury Wodonga Branch – Just keep watching this space 🤔.
