ANSWER:

There is no 3 seconds rule. When stopping at a stop sign or stop line you need to come to a complete stop at or before the stop line (or intersection if there is no stop line), look and then give way to vehicles and/or pedestrians. Once it is safe, proceed.

Only 30% of people answered this one correctly.

The answer is YES, the blue car can proceed.

At a pedestrian crossing such as this, the driver must give way to anyone on, or about to enter the crossing, but can proceed when pedestrians are safely out of the way. -Rule 81(2)

This differs from a children’s crossing, whereby the driver cannot proceed until there is no pedestrian on, or entering the crossing. -Rule 80(3)

The correct answer was BLUE needs to give way.

Cars turning right at an intersection don’t need to give way to vehicles turning left from a slip lane.

Most people answered this one correctly.

But remember, unless there are road markings to signal it, you don’t have to take the nearest lane when turning onto a multi-lane road. This is a common misconception and could be a dangerous assumption to make.

The correct answer was Yellow.

If you are turning right, you must give way to oncoming vehicles going straight through the intersection or turning left.

Of 54 responses, 45 answered correctly, or 83%. That might sound ok, but at such a highly frequented intersection, 17% not knowing the rule is quite concerning 😬
