One braced patrol diff un-banana’d!
Customer installed brace kit onto housing, install caused a little warpage, housing placed in our jig set up and tweaked until straight.

So, how do you stop it? Simple answer, you can’t! You can weld as slow as you want! You cannot avoid the fact that welding creates copious amounts of heat, and that heat inevitably needs to cool. It’s actually the cooling down that pulls.
If your worried you’ve banana’d your diff at all, we can sort that out for you!

Back up for sale due to a back out, price drop!
We’ve had this chassis for a number of years helping develop products off, but with some super cool but super big work coming in this is now just purely in the way! It needs to go!
*work will be completed upon sale*
96 chassis,
4link rear end which will include all fab work and install of
-chassis plating
-4link mounts
-torsion bar sway bar crossmember
-coilover shock tower with integrated hydro bump mounts.
Supplied with a factory 80 rear housing, completely bare with all brackets installed. 4link lower link mounts/striker pad/sway bar link mounts, centre truss with upper link mounts, lower shock mounts all welded up with housing straightened.
Will also include torsion sway bar set up with custom arms, 1” 7075 links and 5/8 heims.
-2” 7075 lower links with bush/heim combo.
-1.75” 7075 upper links with bush/heim combo.
-Fox 2x2” hydro bumps
-Fox 2.5x14” travel coilovers.

This is a 16k kit without any install work.
16k you can have the kit, the chassis, the diff housing and the installation.
Pending location we can assist with delivery!

Tuck it Tuesday!
Since you all loved Dave’s car so much, let’s double back on it again.
So one common comment was, “without shocks mine could flex like that too!”
And yeah, you’re absolutely right! However, the shocks are connected, just not in the conventional manner. On the previous post if you zoomed in on 2 of the pics you could actually see the parts in topic!
But the previous pics, and these pics clearly show shocks connected!
This is a cantilever set up. The shocks are mounted to a bell crank, the bell crank is mounted to the diff via a link. Diff moves up and down, which moves the link, which rotates the crank which compresses or extenders the shock! Think a sway bar with a shock mount on it.
In fact, the “hubs” in this have previsions for a torsion bar to go between them! So everything is acting in one simple package.
The obnoxious amount of travel is obtained through motion ratio. Which is doesn’t actually have much of.
The final set up here will need to be strapped so it will see a little less then what you see here.
But all up around 24” of vertical travel. (Or there abouts.)
In before someone wants to be cheeky about the front, that’s just standard patrol radius arms in these pics. Front end is VERY different nowadays!

Mig Monday, but with a twist!
Over the weekend, we thought the trusty old techweld bubblegum machine had finally popped the bed!
Turns out it was just the tail end of the spool of wire. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
Either way, this machine has been melting metal for us for well over a decade! But it got us thinking, what machines are everyone else using?
Because giving this red things age, we may have to retire it soon! 😆
