Savage River - Meredith Range Regional Reserve

1 to 2 days to complete

Weather permitting, we will be conducting a planned burn on 14 March 2026 at Savage River as part of the state-wide Fuel Reduction Program which is aimed at reducing the bushfire risk to help protect lives and communities.

Smoke may persist some days afterward depending on wind conditions.

During burning operations public access to this area will be restricted.

The public is asked to remain well out of the burn site while the burn is taking place and for the following days until safety checks have been made along tracks and trails.

Please comply with directions from staff or any signs if you are in the area.

Big shout out to all the volunteers that bring Waratah Woodchopping Carnival together, what an amazing job great weekend had by all. Also if anyone knows of MR D.A Thomas there has been a bank card handed into the post office today found near the dam. Please call the post office on 64397100 to arrange pickup.

🎄 Christmas Closure Notice 🎄
We want to let you all know we will be closed for 6 days between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Our customers are amazing as always but we need a little break. During this time there will be NO fuel or any after-hours service available sorry.
Closing at 2:00pm Christmas eve.
We reopen on the 31st at 9:00am.

In a small town like ours, you don’t just have customers, often you really get to know people. Alot of our customers we knew before we had the shop. We share a laugh, a few stories, spend a tiny fraction of our life together. That is truly the best part of being here.

On the flip side of that is the weight it brings. When we lose someone, it really leaves a space. To us it’s not just someone who popped into the shop, its someone we care about, it’s someone who was part of our community, part of what makes this place feel like home.

Running a little shop in a town like this fills your heart in the best possible ways, but it can really break it sometimes too. We just want to say how much we appreciate everyone who’s been part of our story. You matter more than you probably realise.

Rest in Peace Jan you will be missed by many 💜🙏

Yesterday was one of those days we’ll never forget. 😍

Sacha, who had been missing in the bush for around three weeks, was found alive tired, skinny, but safe.

It started with Candi telling Borris, Mitchell and Myself to go out for a ride while the weather is half decent, so we decided to explore the old Magnet Mine tramway from the local tip side and have another look for Sasha. We nearly turned back a few times. After a few sketchy tracks, alot of water and one bike flip from Mitchell 😅, we decided we would take the roadway past the quarry to get home.

And there she was. Standing right on the side of the gravel track.

We shut off our bikes, did the silent “yes!” fist pumps to each other. She walked straight over and leaned on my leg. Borris scooped her up onto his lap and we all headed for Fagans gravel pit

Candi came and picked her up from the gravel pit and drove us all to burnie to return Sacha to her owner. He’s been searching for her ever since she went missing while camping about 150 km from home. Sacha had been his comfort through tough times, we were all so happy to be able to return her to him.

She’s off to the vet today for a full check, but she’s doing incredibly well considering what she’s been through.

Seeing her standing on that track was a feeling we will never forget 🥰
