The Wangaratta Turf Club is much more than a place to watch the races. It's a working training centre that plays an important role in country racing.
With around 200 horses working here each morning, the track is used by everyone from Pony Club riders taking their first steps in the saddle through to licensed trainers and jockeys preparing horses for race meetings across Victoria.
For many local stables, this is where the work happens. Early starts on the training track, horses being worked to schedule, and countless hours of preparation that often go unseen once race day arrives.
Strong country racing relies on quality training facilities, and the Wangaratta Turf Club is proud to provide a base where horses, horsemen and horsewomen can train, develop and compete at every stage of their journey.
