Gary Muir from WOW Wilderness eco tours in Walpole has been recognised with WA Tourism Awards’ Local Tourism Legend Award.

He received the gong for making an exceptional and enduring contribution to the WA tourism sector over more than three decades.

Mr Muir told ABC’s WA Regional Drive program it was really exciting.

“Over half my life has been invested in establishing eco-tourism, the environment and a real sustainable future,” he said.

“You can only be a legend if you have a great team.”

The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk will be closed on Sunday May 31 and Monday June 1, 2026 due to hazardous weather conditions, with damaging winds forecast for the area.
