L**e Service Standard Operating Procedure
Purpose
This standard operating procedure (SOP) provides advice on a L**e Service.
Scope
This SOP applies to all basic services conducted within the workshop.
This standard operating procedure applies to all mechanics/apprentices conducting mechanical work.

Procedure
1. Ensure all vehicle details, booking details and customer instructions is recorded accurately on the Repair Order (RO)
2. Quick inspection of exterior of vehicle noting any damage
3. Place paper mat on driver’s floor
4. Record WOF expiry date on RO
5. Record Service expiry date on RO
6. Turn ignition on – Record mileage
7. Start vehicle – note any warning lights or messages on Dashboard
8. Drive vehicle onto hoist
9. Check horn, washers, wipers and all vehicle lighting
10. Turn vehicle off
11. Open bonnet and boot/hatch
12. Check spare tyre air pressures
13. Carry out battery test
14. Place vehicle on hoist and lift wheels just off the ground
15. Check and top up all fluid levels under bonnet as required
16. Put half bottle of blitz into windscreen wiper bottles, top up remaining with water
17. L**e bonnet hinges and bonnet catch
18. Remove oil filler cap and lift dip stick if applicable
• For European vehicles remove cartridge oil filter and place in catch can
19. Hoist vehicle
20. Remove necessary covers
21. Drain engine oil
• For Asian vehicles remove oil filter (physically wipe oil filter gasket area to remove any previous gasket/o-ring from previous filter)
22. While engine oil is draining check tyre pressure, carry out visual inspection of brake system, suspension and tyre condition.
23. Apply tyre dressing to tyres
24. Record any defects or items that need attention soon on RO Plus order all required parts
25. Replace sump plug washer, fit and tension sump plug to spec
• For Asian vehicles fit new oil filter ensuring rubber seal on filter is lubricated with a thin film of engine oil or rubber grease
26. Clean off any oil residue with brake clean
27. Refit any engine under body covers
28. Lower vehicle
• For European vehicles replace cartridge oil filter and seals
29. Select correct oil, fill engine oil to correct level, refit oil cap. Push in dip stick where applicable
30. Start Engine, run for 30 seconds to circulate engine oil
31. Switch engine off
32. L**e door hinges and catches
33. Fill out and apply new l**e stick to top right side of windscreen
34. Recheck engine oil level
35. Quick inspection for any oil leaks around oil filter
36. Remove hoist arms from under vehicle
37. Reverse vehicle clear of hoist
38. Reverse car outside
39. Road Test vehicle around the block
40. Record any driveability issues (wheel alignment & vibrations) on RO
41. Park vehicle in front of workshop easy for customer to drive out.
42. Remove paper mat
43. Place thank you card and gift in center console
44. Discuss any defects or need attention soon and place job card in finished job card pile.
