This clutch has definitely seen better days! 😳

This is what a completely destroyed clutch looks like.

Before getting to this point, the clutch would have been slipping, and there would likely have been some pretty noticeable warning signs.

In this case, the damage is highly likely to have been caused by the way the clutch has been used rather than a mechanical fault. Things like riding the clutch, holding the vehicle on hills using the clutch, or excessive slipping can generate enormous amounts of heat and wear it out very quickly.

A good reminder that driving habits can make a huge difference to the life of your clutch!

We’re feeling very grateful to have received the "Outstanding Automotive Service Award at the Gold Coast Business Awards". 🏆

We come to work each day, do our best, look after our customers and we run a business we can be proud of. We don’t often stop and think too much about what we’ve achieved, so to have our little family business recognised on a stage like this was pretty special.

It also meant a lot to be recognised alongside other local automotive businesses in our category who we have a great deal of respect for. We know how much hard work goes into running a business in this industry, which made the recognition even more meaningful.

This award really belongs to our whole team and to our customers who have supported us, recommended us and trusted us with their cars over the years.

We’re very lucky to do what we do in a community we love so much, and one that continues to support us year after year.

🔧 Gaskets Don’t Last Forever!

Over time, engine gaskets are exposed to constant heat, pressure and oil, which can cause the rubber to become hard and brittle.

Your rocker cover gasket does a lot of work sealing oil inside the top of your engine. Once it becomes brittle, it can crack or stop sealing properly, leading to oil leaks, burning oil smells, or oil around the engine.

A small gasket might not look like much, but it has an important job! If you’ve noticed an oil leak, it’s worth getting it checked before it turns into a bigger mess.

Sometimes it’s not about the job — it’s just about helping someone out when you can.

This customer dropped in just 30 minutes before closing with the undertray needing to be reattached underneath their car as they had hit a curb. Before they knew it, we had the car up on the hoist, fixed the issue and had them safely back on the road — no charge. 🔧🚗

At Varsity Lakes Mechanical, we’re proud to be part of our local community. We believe looking after people is just as important as looking after their cars.

It might have only been a small job to us, but knowing we made someone’s day a little easier is what it’s all about. 💙

🔧 Rocker Cover Seal Failure – Sometimes It’s Just Age!

Not every oil leak is caused by something major. Over time, rubber seals and gaskets naturally become hard, brittle and cracked from years of heat and engine cycles.

This rocker cover seal had simply reached the end of its life, allowing engine oil to start leaking out.

Replacing ageing seals before leaks get worse can help keep your engine clean and prevent oil from getting onto other components.
