THIS is what oil contamination can do to rubber! 👀🔧
The difference between the old and new part says it all.
When rubber components come into contact with oil, the rubber can absorb the oil, swell, soften and deteriorate. Over time, it can lose its shape and ability to do the job it was designed for.
You can clearly see here how much the old rubber has swollen compared with the new one. 😳
Oil leaks aren't always “just a little leak.” Left long enough, they can cause damage to other components and turn a smaller repair into a much bigger one.
Another reason why we recommend getting leaks checked rather than ignoring them. 🔧🧡

✨ I’M A FINALIST! ✨
I’m incredibly honoured to share that I’ve been named a finalist for Women in Industry at the 2026 MTA Queensland Industry Awards Gala. 🥹
Being recognised in an industry that I’ve been part of for so many years means more to me than I can put into words.
When Tom and I started Varsity Lakes Mechanical, we simply wanted to build a workshop that did things differently — somewhere people could feel comfortable, respected and confident that they were being looked after honestly.
Over the years, my role has grown into so much more than running the business behind the scenes. I’m incredibly proud of the reputation we’ve built, the team we have around us and the trust our customers place in us every single day.
To be recognised as a woman in the automotive industry by MTA Queensland is such a special moment and something I’m genuinely very proud of.
I certainly didn’t build VLM alone. Tom, our boys, our amazing team and our loyal customers have all been such a huge part of the journey. ❤️

We were so honoured to be featured in MTA Queensland’s Motor Trader Magazine recently. 🖤💛

It was a pretty special moment seeing our story in print and reflecting on just how far Varsity Lakes Mechanical has come since Tom and I took over the business back in 2011.

From a small workshop with only a handful of customers to the busy, award-winning business we have today, it’s been 15 years of hard work, plenty of learning and an incredible amount of support from our team, customers and local community.

A huge thank you to MTA Queensland for sharing our story and giving us the opportunity to talk about our journey, our team and what’s next for VLM. We’re very proud of what we’ve built — and even more excited about where we’re heading. ❤️
