So this month and last has been flat out and rangers have been the flavour!

Px ranger in for hard start and rough idle, diagnosed and replaced EGR valve

2 px rangers in for major services, whilst changing filters we found the fuel filters to be extremely old. This is a timely reminder to keep up to date with servicing, better to change a cheap fuel filter then to be replacing expensive fuel injectors.

Had a px ranger 2.2 diesel towed in for a suspected crank sensor issue which was diagnosed by another mechanic, this had an issue where the bolt that holds the sensor bracket had fallen out and into the gearbox bell housing, we removed the transmission and replaced the bolt in the bracket.

Had a px2 ranger in for for running rough and blowing white smoke, we began by scanning the ecu and found that it had EGR related codes in the system so we replaced that as they are a very common issue, turns out that the customer had accidentally filled the tank with petrol, so we drained the tank and flushed the lines with new diesel and replaced the fuel filter and the car started and ran normal again, luckily for the customer there was no more damage caused.

Last ranger we finished off with a px3 in for a logbook service.

A couple VE commodores in for repairs aswell, we had a transmission that would lose drive after 5 mins of driving and turning the car on and off would make it drive again, we carried out a transmission service and upon removing the transmission pan we found what we call gold in the bottom meaning that the transmission was not in good health, in this case the torque converter has failed and killed the rest of the transmission.

Also squeezed in a set of timing chains on a series 2 VE commodore using a set of genuine chains.

If your after any work feel free to send the page a message with what your after and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Hey legends! Just a heads up — I’m off overseas for a bit of a holiday and will be back on November 3rd.

I’ll check messages when I can, but replies might be a bit slow while I’m away. Appreciate everyone’s patience — I’ll be back ready to get stuck into it once I’m home!

Cheers,
Jake ✈️

A quick update of my full time job during work hours

Headgasket replacement on this 5cylinder common rail k series scania.

Very common for the heads to leak oil resulting in us having to spray coppercoat sealer on the head gaskets for maximum insurance.
I have lost count of the multiple i have done so far.

Tonight's job is another set of timing chains on a Ve commodore.
This has to be the worst sludged motor I have ever seen.
This is the reason why you should always keep your servicing up to date and never go over your service.

So tonight I stripped down a 2010 Ve 6litre afm motor that had a suspect collapsed lifter on cylinder number 1. It seems this engine hadn't had a service for quiet some time which may have caused the issue. As I pulled out the inlet lifter I noticed that the spring was actually not how it should have been. So I believe that the lifter had collapsed and or seized.

Please remember to keep up to date on all servicing even on older cars that need it the most.

Cheers Jake.

Jake and I have been quite busy lately to take on many jobs but I have finally managed to spend some time rewiring one of my hobbies! Will be great to get out to the track soon :)

We will have some time free if any one is needing any servicing done over the next few weeks.

Last nights work included this 2003 d22 Nissan Navara. We pulled the old engine out and will now be refitting a customer supplied motor as it has a blown head and suspected cracked piston.

Before the motor is refitted it will be getting a New water pump and engine mounts.

Please do not hesitate to contact either Jake or myself for any quotes or enquires.
