So this month and last has been flat out and rangers have been the flavour!
Px ranger in for hard start and rough idle, diagnosed and replaced EGR valve
2 px rangers in for major services, whilst changing filters we found the fuel filters to be extremely old. This is a timely reminder to keep up to date with servicing, better to change a cheap fuel filter then to be replacing expensive fuel injectors.
Had a px ranger 2.2 diesel towed in for a suspected crank sensor issue which was diagnosed by another mechanic, this had an issue where the bolt that holds the sensor bracket had fallen out and into the gearbox bell housing, we removed the transmission and replaced the bolt in the bracket.
Had a px2 ranger in for for running rough and blowing white smoke, we began by scanning the ecu and found that it had EGR related codes in the system so we replaced that as they are a very common issue, turns out that the customer had accidentally filled the tank with petrol, so we drained the tank and flushed the lines with new diesel and replaced the fuel filter and the car started and ran normal again, luckily for the customer there was no more damage caused.
Last ranger we finished off with a px3 in for a logbook service.
A couple VE commodores in for repairs aswell, we had a transmission that would lose drive after 5 mins of driving and turning the car on and off would make it drive again, we carried out a transmission service and upon removing the transmission pan we found what we call gold in the bottom meaning that the transmission was not in good health, in this case the torque converter has failed and killed the rest of the transmission.
Also squeezed in a set of timing chains on a series 2 VE commodore using a set of genuine chains.
If your after any work feel free to send the page a message with what your after and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
