Marks Mechanics have been servicing the cars of Townsville since 1991 and we take great pride in providing full car service and repairs for all makes and models including commercial fleet vehicles. Owners

Greg McDonald and Tracey Wise are long terms friends and have taken up the opportunity to purchase the business. Along with their respective sons Damian and Jaxon, they hope to continue providing a high level of service to the existing customers of Marks Mechanics, along with the new ones in a family orientated workplace. Greg has been in the mechanical trade for over 41 years and has worked at Marks Mechanics for 23 of them. He firstly worked as a foreman and then as the Workshop Manager for the last 15 years. Tracey has been a long term Qld public servant and now works in the business full time. Our Staff

Damian McDonald (Greg's son) has worked for Marks Mechanics for over 9 years and is a fully qualified Mechanic specialising in diagnostics and is a licensed Roadworthy Inspector. Rodney Brander previously worked for Marks Mechanics for over 9 years off and on and left the business for a short time only to return at the beginning of 2024. Rodney is a highly experienced technician being in the industry for over 40 years. Adrian Ries has worked for Marks Mechanics for over 3 years and is a fully qualified technician and holds an ARC Tick Automotive Air-conditioning License. Adrian specialises in engine rebuilding and cylinder head repairs, has a love of motor sport and has a keen interest in anything automotive. Jaxon Wise (Tracey's son) completed his apprenticeship with Marks Mechanics in 2020 and returned to the business in December 2022. Jaxon is a Subaru Specialist Technician, a licensed Roadworthy Inspector and also holds an ARC Tick Automotive Air-conditioning License. Marks Mechanics have won awards for outstanding service - 2002 Recognition of Outstanding service, 2006 Outstanding service as a member of RAS & 2024 Outstanding Staff Development. All valued local customers and their employees are welcome to use our loan car service. (small fee applies)

WHEEL SPACERS – THINK TWICE BEFORE FITTING THEM

Did you know that aftermarket wheel spacers are not permitted on road vehicles in Queensland, unless they were fitted as original equipment by the vehicle manufacturer?

There are also some important safety concerns:

* They can affect wheel stud and nut engagement
* They change loads on wheel bearings and suspension components
* They alter steering and suspension geometry
* They can create additional clearance and fitment issues

And we've seen firsthand what can happen when things go wrong. We recently had a vehicle come in after a wheel had come off and the wheel studs had snapped.

We're not saying the spacers caused the failure, but it's a good reminder that wheels and their mounting components are not something to take chances with.

At Marks Mechanics, we recommend using the correct wheels and tyres for your vehicle and avoiding modifications that aren't permitted or properly engineered.

When it comes to your wheels, safety should always come first.

A huge THANK YOU to Century Batteries and Chris Marturano for an absolutely unforgettable experience with the RAS Power Up Promotion.
We were lucky enough to be treated to an incredible few days, including a fantastic factory tour at Century Batteries at Carole Park in Brisbane, jetskiing to South Stradbroke Island, an awesome session at Topgolf, and an incredible day with the Ipswich Supercars at Queensland Raceway!
A special thank you also goes to MSE Events Group Pty Ltd and Jordan for bringing everything together and planning the event with such professionalism. The organisation, attention to detail and seamless running of everything was outstanding.
One of the best parts of the whole experience was meeting so many other RAS people from around the country. What started as meeting new faces quickly turned into great conversations, plenty of laughs and genuine friendships that we hope will continue for many years to come.
It was an incredible opportunity, filled with amazing experiences, great people and memories that will last a lifetime.
Thank you Century Batteries for an experience we will never forget. We’re incredibly grateful to have been part of it!
