A NEW CHAPTER. THE SAME COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY.
To our valued customers, friends and the wider Townsville community,
On 16 July 2026, ownership of the business officially changed hands. This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional decision for me—one that I have not taken lightly.
Over the past few years, my health has presented increasing challenges. After a great deal of thought, I came to the difficult conclusion that transferring ownership was the best decision for the business, our team, our customers and my own health and wellbeing. It gives the business the support and direction it needs to continue growing well into the future, while allowing me to better manage my health.
This next chapter brings together two long-standing Townsville businesses: Gallons Automotive at 91 Mooney Street and JM TYREPLUS Townsville. Together, they will move forward as one locally owned and operated business under our new name:
THAT TYRE SHOP & AUTOMOTIVE
Although I am handing ownership of the business to its new owner, I am not leaving. I will remain with the group as General Manager and will work closely with the new owner, our team and our customers throughout the transition. I will help bring the two businesses together, support their continued growth and assist with the expansion of our services—including our 24-hour mobile tyre service.
This ongoing role will allow me to continue contributing to the business and helping the people who have supported us, while also giving me the opportunity to look after my health and wellbeing.
I want to personally reassure our customers that, apart from the new name and signage, there will be no change to the way the business operates. You can continue to expect the same familiar people, honest advice, quality workmanship and genuine customer service that I have always worked hard to provide.
We may no longer be affiliated with a national brand, but we still stand strong. We are now a truly independent local provider—delivering local services for local people, supporting local jobs and our community, and offering practical solutions for customers with budgets of all sizes.
I am proud of what has been built over the years, and letting go of ownership has not been easy. However, I believe this change gives the business the strongest possible opportunity to continue, grow and serve the community for many years to come.
