For this week’s , meet Chloe – a bright, determined 14-year-old chasing big dreams in swimming and triathlon with support from her Variety Heart Scholarship.
When Chloe’s mum, Emma, sent through a photo of her beaming with pride, she wrote: “Thank you very much for giving this opportunity to Chloe. This is going to make a huge difference.”
Chloe’s journey has been anything but simple. At two, she was treated for cancer, and the therapy that saved her life left her with long-term challenges – from neuropathy to restricted movement in her ankles. She learned to walk again step by step, powered by the same grit she brings to every race.
Her spirit has only grown stronger. Since being classified as a multiclass swimmer this year, her confidence has soared. She’s now aiming for age-group nationals, open nationals in Melbourne, and the Queensland Schools state triathlon championships.
Her scholarship is helping her access essentials like a proper racing bike, a new race suit, and support to travel and compete – taking pressure off her family and opening doors to opportunities she’s worked so hard for.
