It has been a really busy year for us at Advanced Service Centre, but now it rolls to a close. We will be closed from 12pm on 19th of December and reopen bright and early on the 5th of January. We'd like to thank our customers and staff for the year we have had, and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period over Christmas and New Year!

Automotive Technician Required

Advanced Service Centre currently requires an Experienced Automotive Technician to join our team in Toowoomba.

Reporting directly to the owners of the business, the successful candidate will have proven experience, a mechanical trade certificate and the ability to undertake a wide variety of work on all makes and models. While we do specialise in European make and model vehicles, we do see regular work for all makes and models. Although not mandatory, a candidate with general experience on Japanese or Australian brand passenger/4wd vehicles would be well suited for this position.



In this role you will be required to:

-Be punctual and well presented

-Apply mechanical maintenance skills including service work, mechanical and electrical repairs, clutch/transmission and engine work, brake and tyre replacement and more

-Demonstrate a solid work ethic and a keen eye for detail

-Demonstrate suitable communication skills, including the ability to document work carried out and recommended work on vehicle repair orders

-Follow direct instruction



To be successful in this role you will possess:

-A light vehicle mechanical trade certificate

-Demonstrated experience in automotive service and repair work

-A current QLD manual drivers licence

-Relevant industry experience

-Reliable transport

-A customer focused approach to vehicle maintenance and repairs



For a suitably qualified candidate with proven experience, well above award wages are on offer plus small amounts of weekday overtime as required. No weekend work will be required.

17.5% leave loading for annual leave.

Uniforms and off-street parking will also be provided. Staff lunches are provided on Fridays.

We've had a couple of V6 diesel oil leak repairs on the go lately, we had one out of a Touareg not too long ago, this time around we've freed this V6 out of an Amarok for a full reseal. No more leaks for this vehicle! We've also replaced the thermostat while it was accessible as the pivot was broken causing the vehicle to run warmer than it should.

We have all manner of Volkswagen/Audi group vehicle service and repair requirements covered:
-Minor to major servicing
-Electrical diagnosis and repair
-Component protection/security programming and coding

Uh-oh! We have this Amarok in the workshop we've torn apart with an ongoing coolant use concern. Typically we can replace just the cylinder head in cases of overheating or head damage but we've had a couple we've torn down now to find a destroyed cylinder head and piston/block damage. In these cases the owners have continued to top up the cooling system and kept driving the vehicle. If your Amarok is using coolant, don't keep topping it up - come see us at Advanced Service Centre.

What's not to love about some Euro performance? We had this C43 AMG in for routine service work and a very tidy Maserati GranSport in for some suspension repairs. Which would you pick? The turbo V6 or the Ferrari based V8?

2024 is in full swing and we'd like to take the start of the year as an opportunity to address one of the most common questions we are asked. "Can I service my vehicle with you while it's under warranty?" The answer is a resounding YES. A common misconception is that a vehicle's warranty would be void if it is not serviced at a dealership and this is simply not true.

Directly from the ACCC: "Any suggestion by manufacturers or dealers that vehicles need to be serviced at a licensed dealer to maintain the owner’s consumer guarantee rights is not correct"

Put simply, if a vehicle is competently serviced by an independent repairer using genuine parts and the correct lubricants, the manufacturer has no grounds to deny warranty on that basis. If you're not happy with the dealership for your in-warranty servicing, come and see us - at Advanced Service Centre we are a true dealership alternative.
