A 1986 model 25hp Yamaha was brought in for issues with dying under load and being hard to restart. A quick run in our test tank revealed the carburettor was flooding, causing the engine to choke out when put under load.
We carried out a full pre-season service and completed a thorough carburettor clean to get it running reliably again.

This Delta Craft was brought to us after sitting for an extended period and was well overdue for a service and general maintenance. Unfortunately, during our initial inspection we discovered the engine was seized, requiring removal and disassembly for further diagnosis.
Upon inspection, we identified a leaking heat exchanger, which had allowed saltwater to enter through the exhaust system. This resulted in significant internal water damage and ultimately a seized engine after sitting unused for some time.
In this situation, it was far more cost-effective to supply and install a replacement engine. We fitted a brand-new Volvo Penta D1-30 and carried out a complete engine replacement, including all new fuel hoses and inlet water hoses. To help prevent future issues, we also installed a freshwater flushing adapter, enabling the customer to flush the engine after extended saltwater use.
Another major job completed and this Delta Craft is now ready for reliable service once again.

A recent fit-out completed on this Haines Signature 1950.
The customer supplied a used 175hp Evinrude E-TEC, and we carried out the full installation and rigging, ensuring everything was correctly set up and operating as it should. We also performed a water test to determine the correct propeller size and pitch, allowing the engine to achieve its full RPM range.

We inspected a MerCruiser 5.7L TBI fitted to an Alloy Tek jet boat after the customer reported the engine running rich and failing to reach full RPM. During water testing at Hume Weir, we diagnosed two issues:

Stuck-open IAC valve – causing excessively high idle speed.

Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line connected to an insufficient vacuum source – resulting in elevated fuel pressure and an overly rich mixture even with the throttle closed.

We supplied and installed a new IAC valve and correctly routed the vacuum line to the proper manifold vacuum source. After repairs, the engine idled correctly and fuel pressure returned to normal operating range.
