Most boat owners wait too long. Here are 5 signs your upholstery needs replacing.

1. Cracking along the seams - This is where water gets in. Once moisture reaches the foam, you're potentially dealing with mould and a much bigger job.

2. Vinyl lifting at the edges - The adhesive bond has broken down. It won't reattach — and it will keep spreading.

3. Exposed or crumbling foam - You're now replacing the skin AND the foam. The longer you leave it, the more it costs.

4. Discolouration that won't clean off - That's probably a combination of UV, Moisture/Mildew, Sunscreen & Body oils, Harsh cleaners or Dye Transfer (clothing) etc, It's not a maintenance problem — it's a replacement problem.

5. A smell that won't go away - Moisture is sitting inside the foam. You can't clean your way out of this one.

Every seat that leaves this workshop goes through this exact moment. Vinyl pulled tight. Staple gun in hand. Tension checked by feel before it's fixed in place. It sounds simple. But get it wrong and you see it in the finished result — bubbling, pulling, uneven lines that show up the moment the sun hits the seat.
