Diesel Care Tamworth is looking for an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team.

This is a full time, Monday to Friday position working across a range of diesel vehicles and systems, with plenty of hands-on diagnostics, servicing, repairs and fuel system work.

As part of Diesel Care, you’ll have access to specialist diagnostic and testing equipment along with ongoing in-house and manufacturer training to keep building your diesel knowledge and skills.

We’re looking for a qualified mechanic with strong fault-finding skills, good attention to detail and pride in their workmanship.

Competitive wage package based on skills and experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Workshop Administrator, you’ll play an important part in keeping our busy workshop running smoothly.

It’s a varied role combining administration, customer service and day-to-day workshop support, including:

• Looking after the front counter and answering phones
• Booking jobs and managing job cards and workshop paperwork
• Preparing invoices and processing paperwork
• Liaising with customers, suppliers and other Diesel Care branches
• Ordering and sourcing parts for workshop jobs
• Assisting with stock and inventory
• General administration and data entry
• Supporting our workshop and warehouse team

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Someone with strong organisation and communication skills, good computer skills, attention to detail and the ability to juggle a few things at once.

Mechanical or automotive knowledge is an advantage, but it’s not essential. Experience in administration, customer service, parts interpreting or a workshop environment would also be highly regarded.

A great piece of Diesel Care history from the archives.

While chatting with industry colleagues at the recent AADS Conference in Melbourne, a discussion came up about just how far back Denso training in Australia goes.

That prompted Diesel Care Tamworth Director, John Jamieson, to dig through the filing cabinet and find this original Nippondenso Manufacturers Training Course Certificate, issued on 6 December 1985.

Interestingly, John completed the course alongside Lloyd Richardson from Diesel Distributors, who had his own certificate on display at AADS and sparked plenty of conversations about the industry's history.

It's a reminder that technical training has always been a cornerstone of our industry. More than 40 years later, Diesel Care continues to invest in training and technical development to support both legacy fuel systems and the latest diesel technology.

Sometimes it's nice to look back and see where it all started.
