It's hard to put 16 years into words...
After a lot of thought, difficult conversations and plenty of back and forth moments, we have decided to close the doors of Wollondilly Auto Electrical and move into the next chapter.
Josh has been in the automotive trade for over 35 years and our journey in our local area started 16 years ago, as a mobile auto electrical business, a ute, tool trailer and alot of hard work. From there, thanks to Katrina at Tahmoor Auto Parts, we were able to secure our own workshop and build something that became a pretty big part of our lives.
Over the years this business became more than just fixing vehicles.
It became the people.
The customers who kept walking through our doors, some for years upon years. The ones who trusted Josh with your pride and joy, recommended us to friends and family, brought coffee just because, or just stopped in for a chat. We've smiled and laughed through your proudest moments and felt your heartbreak through the sad ones. We will be eternally grateful that we met you all.
Then, there are all the tradies in the area who started out as business contacts and somehow became mates. The guys we can call with questions, help out with a job, or just have a laugh about the questionable mental capacity required to survive in the automotive industry.
There's something special about the trade community when you find the right people.
We're also incredibly proud that the business has given us opportunities to support our local community and donate to charities along the way. Being able to give back, even in small ways has always meant alot to us.
Personally, one of the biggest privileges (and headaches) was being able to give our son an employment opportunity as he found his own way. Working alongside him for the best part of 4 years has allowed us opportunities to learn and grow together, and often gave Josh an outlet to laugh about the frustrations of business.
Closing the doors is bitter-sweet.
There's excitement for what comes next, but there's also a huge amount of sadness in saying goodbye to something that has been such a big part of our lives.
After so many years of putting the business, the customers and the work first, for Josh, this chapter will be a slight pivot in his own career. Staying within the automotive industry, but moving into a role that allows him to slow down a little and find a bit more balance.
To every customer, supplier, fellow tradie, friend, and family who have supported us along the way - thank you!
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives and your community.
We genuinely could not have built what we did without you.
We might be closing the work shop doors, but we're taking a hell of a lot of good memories, friendships and stories with us.
Its never really about the cars, its about the people ❤️
Here's to the next chapter.
