This well driven Supercharged Wrangler came in with a nasty whining noise from the rear end.

A quick inspection revealed very metallic diff oil and a magnet through the fill plug pulled out a broken pinion tooth.

So, there was only one thing for it. Time for a rebuild.

Wont be long before this weapon of is back on the trails.

This 3.6 Grand Cherokee came in with a misfire on cylinder 3.

During the diagnostic process we opted to do a visual inspection on the cylinder after removing the plugs.

Lo and behold, there’s the issue.

A blown head gasket means coolant has been making its way into the combustion chamber and effectively steam cleaning the top of the piston every time the engine runs.

And when we say clean, we mean clean. The piston crown is so spotless you can clearly read the serial number stamped into the piston, along with the QR code.

It’s a pretty impressive visual, but unfortunately it’s also a very clear sign that coolant is getting in where it definitely shouldn’t be.

If your develops a sweet coolant smell, unexplained coolant loss or an occasional misfire, don’t ignore it. If you have a misfire on a it is unlikely to be plugs and coils but usually something a little more sinister but still very fixable.

"Can I run just the headers and keep my factory exhaust?"

This is the number one question we get, and the answer is: technically yes, but it's not a bolt on system then. The pacemaker header fl**ge has 4 bolt holes, while your OEM system only has 2, a different bolt pattern and smaller diameter. So the stock cat back physically won't line up without some cutting, fabrication and welding. Add in the fact the factory cat is a lot longer than the pacemaker unit, and you're looking at a proper fab job. Our advice: just run the full pacemaker system, it's a genuine bolt on with zero fabrication needed, sounds amazing and is Australian made.

NSW REGO SAVINGS: SAVE UP TO $100 FROM 1 SEPTEMBER

The NSW Government has introduced a one off registration discount for eligible privately registered vehicles.

If you have a privately registered car, you could receive:

$100 off your annual registration for a light vehicle

$80 off your annual registration for a motorcycle

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

The discount is available if your vehicle is registered for private use and your registration renewal falls between 1 September 2026 and 31 August 2027.

You don't need to apply. If you're eligible, the discount will automatically be deducted when your registration is renewed.

The discount does NOT apply to:

Vehicles registered for business use
Trailers and caravans
Plant vehicles
Heavy vehicles
Conditionally registered vehicles, including historic vehicles
Vehicles already receiving another registration concession, discount, refund or rebate

If you pay your rego every 6 months, the discount is applied proportionally at $50 for light vehicles or $40 for motorcycles per 6 month period.

A huge shout out this weekend to this fine individual. This is JL. He is one of our sponsored mechanics and joins us from the Phillipines (has has been with GDL for over a year now)
This week gone he knocked out not one but two Ram 5.7 MDS deletes.
A mighty fine effort. Climbs in there with the engine and gets it done.
(Yes you can lift the cab, but he chooses not to)

If you’ve got a Grand Cherokee and you’re noticing leaks or air con issues, this is for you.

The air conditioning condenser and transmission cooler are combined into one unit, and both sides can fail on these vehicles. The most common issue we see is the condenser leaking, which often shows up as green fluid under the car. A lot of people assume it’s coolant, but these run red coolant from factory, so green usually points straight to an air conditioning leak.

On the flip side, if the transmission cooler section fails, it can dump all the transmission fluid, which is exactly what’s happened in this case.

Another thing to keep in mind is if the transmission cooler side fails, you’re also up for an air conditioning regas because it’s all part of the same unit.

We keep these in stock and can get you sorted quickly before it turns into a bigger issue.
