This is a no ordinary 6.2 supercharged hemi. This is what’s called a redeye. It pushes out more power than a normal 6.2 (807 hp) stronger internals and a supercharger that runs 14psi instead of 11psi.
Jeep Australia landed 25 of these a few weeks back and an assumed clerical error at ordering meant Jeep moved these at a heavily discounted price.
You probably noticed that the country’s Jeep guys started promoting them, dontex and Canberra srt alike.
To our knowledge they are now all sold.
But we got our hands on one.
Granted this has already been sold too but if such things excite you. Come and see us at the Sydney 4X4 show next weekend you can see one first hand.

One of our project Jeep's interior accents were flogged out so we fitted one of those carbon style interior trim kits to the Grand Cherokee so you don’t have to be the guinea pig.

For some reason, Jeep looked at the Overland interior and said:

“You know what this 4WD needs? Wood grain Veneer than wont last 10 minutes in Australian conditions.” If you own an SRT chances are you're probably in the same boat

First, if someone or yourself has already attacked your dash with superglue, congratulations, you now have to deal with your own handy work.

Second, this kit seems to be made for a Series 2 WK2, so if you have a Series 1 like ours, the start button trim section may leave you with a mystery hole in your dash.

That being said, for the money, it actually looks pretty good overall. We are going to leave it fitted for a few weeks and see if it survives real life, heat, vibration, and general Jeep behaviour.

This is not real carbon fibre. It is a carbon fibre style printed finish. The factory was extremely keen to make sure we knew that, so now we are extremely keen to make sure you know that too.

If it stays stuck and doesn’t launch itself into the footwell, we may make these available through GDL Autoparts.

This poor Ram TRX is in a world of hurt but there may yet be a silver lining.
The owner purchased this vehicle second hand a few months ago with 36,000kms on the clock.
it has arrived to us with a no start condition which has turned out to be an internal engine failure which now results in the crank shaft locked up.
At this stage we suspect a valve spring has broken and dropped a valve into the combustion chamber.
The extent of the damage is not yet known. Unfortunately the truck is out of manufactures warranty.
Subject to what is found when its stripped down but there is talk of some power upgrades happening at the same time as the repair.
With a camshaft upgrade, supercharger pulley replacement, injectors, complete exhaust system and a cold air intake the TRX can get mighty close to 1000Hp at the wheels.

E-Lockers Have Landed!

We’ve teamed up with TRE and they’ve sent us their electric diff locker to test on our Wrangler HEMI swap build.

This thing comes with the lot. Switches, brackets, bearings, shims, wiring, fuse, instructions and the locker itself. It is heavy, it looks flash, and once it’s installed you will never see it again, but you’ll definitely know it’s there when you need traction.

We’ll be fitting two of these to our Wrangler build, one front and one rear, and we’ll be documenting the whole process as we go.

The plan is to have the build showcased at Jeep Jamboree in October.

We’ll also have these with us at the Sydney 4x4 Show, so if you’re interested in electric lockers, upgrades, or building your Jeep properly, come and have a chat.

SRT dash trims ruining your life? Or even models that are not SRT. Looks like a possible cost effective solution may be available. We are testing this prototype on our project overland.
If these are up to the task we will have them available for a fraction of the cost of the OE parts.

Don’t drive an overheating car.
This is the cylinder head from a 3.6 wrangler that overheated and was driven until it stopped.
The heads got so hot it dropped the valve seat out of the head and forced the valve to stay open, then hit the piston.
What could have been a quick hose replacement is now a major rebuild for want of stopping and getting a tow truck.

The JL Wrangler is now becoming highly popular through our workshops. As they start to come out of warranty they are becoming more frequent visitors than the WK2 Grand Cherokee.
This great example came through yesterday for an end of warranty inspection and passed with flying colours.
Impressive to see the newer models already kitted out for some serious off road work.
