🚗 2022 KIA SORENTO AWD GT-LINE 2.2L TURBO DIESEL

❤️New customer booked in for replacement of the front brakes and a complete brake fluid flush. 🔧

The customer had been quoted $1,746 by the dealership and wasn’t happy with either the price or the wait time.

I completed the job for around half the dealership’s quoted cost while still using quality components and following the correct repair procedures.

This post isn’t about who can do a brake job the cheapest. It’s about having options while still maintaining quality, safety, and reliability.

A common misconception is that aftermarket brake components are inferior to genuine parts. In many cases, quality aftermarket components can provide equal or even better braking performance than OEM parts when the correct products are selected.

🚗 2018 MITSUBISHI PAJERO SPORT 2.4LTR TURBO DIESEL – 161,000kms

➡️ Booked in to diagnose transmission shifting issues

👀⚠️ As you can see in the photos, despite this vehicle never being used for towing, the condition of the transmission oil was extremely poor. Original transmission fluid still in use at 161,000kms — well overdue for servicing and showing signs of severe deterioration ☠️

ℹ️ MITSUBISHI TRANSMISSION SERVICE SCHEDULE STATES

❌ Normal usage replace: Every 195,000km
❌ Severe usage (towing etc): Every 90,000km

PEOPLE please do not follow recommended Mitsubishi or other factory maintenance schedules IF you wish to still OWN your vehicle past its WARRANTY!!

❤️Luckily for this customer, I carried out a proper service procedure & no further issues were found .

⚙️ Having rough shifts? Dirty transmission fluid might be why.

Transmission fluid does a lot more than just lubricate — it also controls cooling, hydraulic pressure, and smooth gear changes.

As the fluid ages, it collects clutch material and microscopic metal particles which can cause:
•Rough or jerky shifting
•Delayed gear changes
•Slipping or clunking into gear
•Excess heat and internal wear

Dirty fluid can also clog small passages, affect shift solenoids, and reduce the transmission’s ability to shift smoothly.

Keeping up with transmission servicing helps improve performance, reduce wear, and extend transmission life 🔧

👉 I recommend servicing automatic transmissions for best performance:

❤️ Normal usage: Every 60,000kms
❤️ Severe usage (towing etc): Every 50,000kms

🚗 2024 PY Ford Ranger – 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel 4x4

In the workshop for its 10,000km first logbook service, and at the customer’s request we installed an oil catch can kit — great thinking by the owner 👍

Fitting a catch can early in the vehicle’s life helps stop oil vapour from entering the intake system, which can lead to carbon build-up in the intake, intercooler, EGR system and valves over time. Installing one early helps keep the engine cleaner and healthier long term.

🚗 2018 VW Tiguan – 120,000kms

A good example of why keeping track of fluid service intervals is so important — and why we’ve started using our new l**e service stickers to help customers stay on top of them.

➡️ New customer booked in to diagnose a warning light on the dash.
Customer advised the vehicle had been serviced at the dealership its whole life and followed the standard service schedule.

💻 Vehicle scanned for fault codes:
C111204 – Haldex Clutch Pump Fault

After further inspection and removal of the rear differential Haldex pump, we found the issue was service-related.

The oil that was drained had significantly degraded, and the pump filter was heavily blocked, restricting flow and affecting the pump’s operation and the performance of the Haldex AWD system.

🔧 Repairs carried out:
✅ Bench tested Haldex pump for operation & performance
✅ Haldex fluid replaced
✅ Pump filter cleaned
✅ Fault codes cleared
✅ Road tested – no further faults found

🍀 Luckily for the customer, the pump itself was still in working condition. With a proper clean and fresh fluid, we were able to restore operation without needing to replace the pump, which can be a very expensive repair if it fails completely.

👉ℹ️ The Haldex pump is an electric motor that creates hydraulic pressure to engage the multi-plate clutch in all-wheel-drive (AWD) systems, allowing power to be transferred from the front to the rear axle
