This weekend was a very successful weekend for Flatout Services. No wins, but very happy customers.
Bill and Spiro Perdikaris brought their Capri in about 12 months ago by way of a referral from mutual good friend Terry Cartwright. Flatout Services supplied and fitted front and mid engine plates for the Ford Windsor engine and rear transmission mount. The rear end needed an upgrade but had to be contained under the seat area so the already narrowed factory rails were plated and triangulated for strength and tubular crossmembers added to accommodate the Flatout Services designed and supplied chromoly noprep/radial four link brackets and 4 point track locator. Terry Cartwright built the housing with integral swaybar to his usual very high standards and then the affected area was covered in new sheetmetal. After a couple of test hits at Sydney Dragway a few weeks ago Spiro piloted the car to a 10.2 this weekend at the no prep event at Cootamundra Airstrip.
Dave Muscat has been unbeatable lately in his beautiful Shane's Chassis built Mazda R100. Flatout Services has been working with Dave for the last 18 months in an effort to extract the most out of it. After some successful changes to the four link we turned our attention to the front end. A new set of struts were built to get more weight transfer to the rear resulting in some spectacular wheels up launches on the tricky Cootamundra surface. Dave ran a 9.0@162 that stood briefly as the quickest 2WD pass ever at that track. Dave is a real thinker and very hands on and has a few more tricks up his sleeve so watch out for some even quicker times next time out.
Flatout Services would also like to congratulate Gina Bullians on her fantastic 7.09@193 licensing pass in Mick Grunbaum's Pro Stock Camaro. Thank you Mick for allowing me to play a very small part in this achievement and good luck to you and Gina in the future

Flatout Services would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. After a very trying year, I'd like to thank my loyal customers for their patience and understanding. I'd personally love to forget 2025 as it just about killed me.
On the bright side, I'm really looking forward to finishing some overdue projects and starting on some exciting new ones, not to mention seeing Doug make me look slow in the Aussie Outlaw Anglia in 2026.

A very cool recent project was a carbon fibre one piece front clip for the Devils Taxi Valiant of Danny Makdessi. The car is slated for a rebuild at Scf Race Cars in the very near future and part of that brief is to put the car on a massive diet. The grille was smoothed over and a spoiler grafted on prior to a mold being taken. The finished piece came in at 33 lbs complete with stiffeners to keep it nice and solid. Boot (trunk) and 4 doors in progress.

This car came in for a sway bar but as can happen it kind of exploded. Thanks Terry Cartwright for the housing

I haven't posted here for a while so I'm going to try to get up to date over the next week or two.
First up is Sarah Glass's 1955 Chev that I carried out some modifications and updates to.
This car was a rolling ex Hemi powered Doorslammer when Sarah and Pete acquired it.
Works carried out include
*Fit BBC and power glide with new mid and front engine plates
*Remove bar behind bellhousing and fit new removable trans crossmember and collapsible trans mount
*Upgrade centre floor crucifix
*New driveshaft protection
*New carbon seat and chassis mods to fit
*New accelerator pedal and throttle stop
*Remove existing handbrake and master cylinder setup
*New brake pedal, brake master cylinder and brake lines
*Carbon floor section
*Remove D/S firewall and replace with new panel for pedal clearance.
*Carbon existing zoomie cutouts
*Cut and permanent mount lower gaurd sections
*Add inside flanges to locate and dzus top sections of front clip
*Fabricte new exhaust headers
*Cut exhaust exit in lower guards, supply and fit carbon fascia plates
*Fit removable 5" titanium bull horns
*Form up and carbon blower opening in bonnet
*Fit new reverse cowl scoop
*Fit front mount fuel cell and pump on tray
*Fit radiator
*Front mount battery, battery cover and cable operated battery shut off
*Electromotion ram to chute release
*ISP style Head padding
*Mount nitrous bottle

The car was a Doorslammer in a previous life so we weren't too concerned with rear suspension, however, when we checked it out it was in need of a bit of work. The shocks were fitted at a crazy angle and fitted with very heavy and short spings. We removed the springs and found that the sway bar wouldn't allow anywhere near full shock travel. As it turned out this was a good find as the existing sway bar was garbage. It had 3" long x 1/8" thick arms on a 1.25" tube mounted on 1.375" x .058" sleeves (no bearings).
We replaced the sway bar with a Flatout Services unit that utilises .250" arms on a 2" x .120" tube mounted on Billet aluminium housings with huge 55/35mm bearings. We also remounted the shocks at the correct length and angle and then fitted more appropriate springs.
The car was then squared up and scaled ready go.
Pete and Sarah got the front clip painted and airbrushed by Danny at Custom Bodyworks and completely rewired by Colin Boyd but on the Friday night before the event decided they weren't happy with the wheelie bars that came with the car so pulled their entry for that meeting. We fabricated a new set just in time for the next event.
Unfortunately the car didn't make a representative pass due to converter problems.
Sarah on the other hand did a remarkable job considering it was her first time in the car, and now that the converter issue has been resolved we're all looking forward to seeing what Sarah and the car can do.
Thanks to Pete and Sarah for your patience and for allowing me to be part of your racing endeavours.

We had to say goodbye to our old mate and Flatout Services mascot yesterday. Moe was the most destructive dog I've ever had, wrecking my house and car on numerous occasions but we loved him and will miss him.

This picture came up in my memories today attached to a post by Jon Van Daal on the All Things Anglia page. It wouldn't let me share the post or the memory but after such an incredible time in England last year with my current Anglia, I just had to share it again. I raced this car in the early 1990's with the same great people that I race with now with two exceptions. My wonderful mate Cole James who put his heart and soul into this car but is sadly no longer with us, taken way too early by brain cancer. Steve Stephen Busch and Neil Webb are still a part of my racing, along with the other exception, Doug Willard, who has been an integral part of it and will transition from crew to driver next time the car hits the track.
Happy days

Congratulations Keith Muller on the debut of your new car this weekend. A few issues to sort out but nothing serious. So good to see an old school Aussie body mixing it with the late models.
