Munji Performance was founded by Jared McLeod in 2005, originally to assist his mates with making repairs on their drift cars. After years working on powerful drift vehicles, Jared's interest moved to four wheel driving. He completed his trade certificates in Boat Building and Composite (Reinforced Plastics) with Riviera Marine building luxury yachts. Dylan’s 2WD RC in for a midlife refresh! After fitting a set of +30 Injectors and blowing through his clutch, Dylan brought us the ute for a new clutch and tune. He is also running an early prototype of our front mount intercooler kit and a cat back exhaust.

After fitting a new genuine rear main seal and an upgraded clutch, we got this one on the dyno to see what it could do.

Starting at 175hp thanks to the larger injectors, we had to spend some time dialling in the map for that flat AFR. All in all ending up with a healthy 245hp at ~16:1AFRs, and 670nm!

With a more free flowing exhaust the stock turbo will be able to breathe a bit better and get us that little bit more, but this is already rowdy enough to get you giggling 😂

Brayden’s 2015 D-Max in for the full build!

After purchasing his new D-Max, Brayden brought it to us bog stock to pull the injectors and get them tested, then fitted with +30 Genuine Denso caps from the boys at Desta Automotive. That along with a Ratio Tek Valvebody and Sonnax Zip kit was all installed inhouse to prep for some power out of this 4J! While we had it apart we also did some 3D scans to design our Custom Transmission Cooler kit for the 2012-2020 D-Max and MUXs.

Then with the lift, we supplied 2.5” Radflos set around 3 inches, Blade Suspension’s amazing adjustable Leaf Pack and of course our full suite of suspension correction including our UCAs in Raw Silver and our Diff Drop Relocation. Brayden got that all installed himself and brought it back for the wheel alignment to get dialled.

While we had it in the second time we fitted up our prototype transmission cooler kit, which pairs perfect with the gearbox upgrades we done for longevity and towing ability. With the big Cross Country Cooler Brayden also installed we put it on the Dyno and dialled in the custom tune to make a nice stout 218hp on the 33s. Since Brayden does a bit of towing we kept it at a safe and easy ~17:1AFR at 25psi, which will keep this thing going forever 💪🏿

Now this rig is set up for Brayden to use!

A bit more RnD on the MUNJI TF Rodeo swapped with the late model ISUZU RZ4E motor!

The horsepower is a little lower then actual thanks to the Jackaroo wide track rear diff with its ~4.5:1 ratio and tiny tyres, but still starting around 125hp and ending up with 160hp at the wheels, this thing shoot scoot now!

Next up, another turbo 😉

We’ve had an exciting addition to the Munji warehouse recently!

We recently picked up a Mainline wheel Dyno for testing and development of a LOT of our products, and have already started getting into it! This is instrumental for dialing in some big fun things we have coming soon like our 4JJ3 compound kits!

Of course, we’ve also started getting into tuning the 4J line up, from the early Ra7s right into the late 4JJ3 Dmax and Bt-50s. If you are after performance work we can now offer this through Munji Mods, so get in touch today!
