Your caravan battery can lose charge even when you’re not using it!

Just because your caravan is parked up doesn’t mean your battery isn’t working.

All batteries naturally lose some charge over time, and depending on your setup, certain electrical components may continue drawing power even when your caravan isn’t in use.

💡 COASTAL RV HUB TIP:

If your caravan has been sitting idle for a while, don’t forget to check your battery’s state of charge.

Always follow your battery manufacturer’s recommendations for charging and long-term storage.

Here’s a little look from the rooftop. 👀

For this type of leak test, specialised equipment is fitted through a roof vent to create controlled positive air pressure inside the caravan.

A leak-detection solution is then applied to exterior seals, seams and fittings. Where pressurised air escapes through a gap, bubbles can help identify potential water-entry points. 💧

It’s one of the ways our team can investigate areas that may need attention before water ingress leads to bigger problems.

From the outside, you might never know there’s a problem.

But once the team starts pulling things apart, sometimes there’s a very different story hiding underneath.

This caravan is a great example of why keeping on top of leaks, water ingress and general maintenance is so important. What starts as something you may not even notice can eventually lead to damage behind the walls.

Your awning fabric might get all the attention…but don’t forget the hardware holding everything together. 👀

Before heading away, take a few minutes to give your awning a good visual check.

Look over the arms, brackets, fasteners and locking components for anything that appears loose, damaged, corroded or excessively worn.

And don’t forget the mounting points where the awning attaches to your caravan — these are worth keeping an eye on too.

A quick check at home is much better than discovering something isn’t right when you’re already set up at camp. 🚐

If something looks loose, damaged or you’re unsure about it, have it checked rather than forcing or adjusting it yourself.
