One of been working on over the last month for a bloke. 2010 Polaris sportsman. New stator & rectifier, new thermo switch, new water pump seals, some in house shock bushes, 3 cv boots, new rear brake pads, a brake fluid flush front and back and all new engine and diff oils.

#18 Well with working away full time and a house move, it has taken 12 months to complete this my first Can Am. I’ve been riding it now for a couple of months and with the wide seat and trailing arm rear suspension I’m pretty impressed with the smooth ride. There is a couple of things left to sort and then it will be up for sale.

Well I thought I’d try something different this time. Welcome #18 a 2005 Cam am outlander 400. Run into the ground mechanically, shot universals, failed wheel bearings and a typically rusted out muffler for this model. So first thing is to delicately cut the rusted out 16x 6mm bolts that holds the racks and plastics on. Now the sandblasting and painting starts while I wait for parts to arrive. If anyone knows a place to buy new shock struts under $250 each let me know.

What started as a simple replacement of broken body plastics for a friend has quickly snowballed, it’s revealed front brake pads nearly worn out, caliper slides frozen, 2 torn cv’s, a torn rear universal boot, a badly worn ball joint, a snapped off rear differential breather plus a great big rust hole in the lower frame tube (got to love cow s**t for rusting frames). Well it won’t be done till it’s right. Parts on order so will be watching the mailbox.

R&B Motorsports have moved, now based in Gympie Qld. Enough moved to start on #16 which has been stripped down for way too long! 2001 Honda trx350 es in reasonable shape but some frame welding required to fix torn off rack mounts. Waiting on a top end gasket kit and this should be a cracker. It’s got the common failed digital dash on this model so anyone know a good electronics repairer?

Well a good days work, stripped out the rear diff and inspected the air filter. 2 things you don’t want to see, a diff with a full mag drain plug and sparkly oil along with a air filter blocked and opening up. Simple maintenance, oil is cheap!!!!
Well the diff is as bad as I expected, the main bearing is cracked with the ball spacer rings eaten. I assume that’s what that grey paste is. Awesome, new Allballs rebuild kit on the way.

I want one, probably break some old bones but hey you only live once.
