It’s been a hectic couple of weeks over the holidays but managed to get the jobs finished over the second week.

Had a 15hp with an intermittent misfire and a rough idle.
After finding water in the fuel and a dirty emulsion tube a carby clean was in order.
It’s runs perfect now.

Had Steves 2015 60hp Yamaha up for a service today.
The outboard was in great condition only needing a check over and oil and filter in the motor and gearbox oil and an impeller.
I also replaced the wheel bearings in the trailer and you can see the pitting in one of the bearing cones that was definitely due.

Had a pre sale service on a 90hp mercury four stroke today.
It was in pretty good condition for its age.
Gear oil wasn’t to bad but the engine oil and impeller were definitely due.
These mercury outboards will last forever when regularly maintained.

Serviced my own personal outboard today I service the engine and gearbox every 50hours.

I also checked all anodes, greased engine checked thermostats and behind the prop for fishing line and replaced the impellor.

Ready for this Summer.

Fitted a new alternator and radiator to a v6 prado today.
The radiator wasn’t leaking yet but the discolouration on the top of the radiator was a sure sign is wasn’t going to last much longer.

Had the chance to service a couple of Yamaha outboards for a customer before the school holidays.
First up was a 50hp two stroke getting a top to bottom service including:
Spark Plugs.
Thermostat.
Gear oil
Impellor
Anodes.

Second motor to service was a 300hr logbook service for a 150hp Yamaha four-stroke outboard.
This out board has been meticulously maintained and serviced.
But had a symptom of excessive fuel consumption and excessive engine oil.
A quick removal of the thermostat revealed the common seized thermostat that doesn’t allow the engine to fully warm up. Resulting in a rich mixture and washed bores causing engine oil amounts to increase from the extra fuel.
It received a full service as well they’re now ready for the winter snapper and tuna bite.

A quick 70 000k log book service for this Nissan Qashqai, front to back check over and test drive.

We Found a large amount of rat poo under the bonnet when conducting our under bonnet checks.

Rats go under there for heat during the winter months and reak havoc eating wires and nesting in air boxes.

It’s a good idea to deal with the rats If you notice rat poo under the bonnet.

Recently I had the chance to diagnose a steering and suspension fault on a commodore Ute.

It presented with two suspension noises and steering grind when turned.

End result was two new strut top bearings and a set of swaybar links.

Had the chance to diagnose an Rc Colorado recently that was presenting with:
No codes, Lack of power down low, Blowing smoke a Misfire at idle and excessive fuel consumed.

After testing the egr circuit, full wiring harness check and mass air flow meter check which tested fine we tested all injectors and all failed.

We took the opportunity to clean the air intake and adjust the valves while we replaced injectors.
As you can see by the photo the manifold was really blocked.
The worst I’ve seen. The vehicle now drives 100 percent better with none of the symptoms listed above.

If you have a diesel with these issues with no codes or faults you may need injectors and a manifold clean.
