UTAS Motorsport

UTAS Motorsport University of Tasmania's Formula SAE (FSAE) Motorsport Team UTAS Motorsport is now in its eighth year of operation, each year improving on the last!

University of Tasmania Motorsport is a student driven Formula SAE team comprised of predominately engineering students as well as students from other disciplines such as business and media. Students take on the role of a small production team and, within a year, must conceive, design, finance and manufacture a prototype formula style racing car that adheres to the regulations outlined for FSAE.

We’re incredibly grateful to Spirit of Tasmania for their support in helping us travel to the Formula SAE competition. Their generous travel discount made the trip possible and allowed us to invest more into our car, something that wouldn’t have been possible with full-price transport.

Huge thanks to CSL for their continued support 🙌

The workshop has generously provided in-kind machining on their 5-axis CNC. From our uprights (pictured above) and upright clevises to our steering rack mounts, Their precision and expertise have played a huge role in our car’s performance.

We're back and already achieving some goals for the year!

It was a pleasure having our new members participate at our regular track test. We had a very productive day with successful aero testing on the 2025 car. Some of our new members got to hop in the 2023 car, overall, a 10/10 day.
