Vortox Air Technology had been operating out of Claremont, California, USA since 1928 but in 2023 the then owners of the business were advised that the land had been sold out from underneath the facility and with that they were given 6 months to relocate the business. After much investigation of the unsurmountable costs to relocate within California, the decision was made to sell the business. SLS Group has been a customer of Vortox for 15 years and at the time of initial discussions around the possibility of SLS buying Vortox, the New South Wales government was offering grant funding to encourage businesses to move to regional NSW. With grant funding on the table, and a great passionate and commitment to see more manufacturing in Australia, SLS started to seriously consider the mammoth task of relocating a 100 year old manufacturing business across the globe. Fast forward to today, and 20 shipping container loads of equipment later, we have now begun the manufacture of the Vortox range of products right here in the Hunter Valley, NSW.
