Most people check their oil level. Not many check what it actually looks like.
π Fresh oil is amber and translucent
π Dark oil has done its job and that's normal
π But milky or foamy means coolant is mixing in
π Gritty texture means metal
π Burnt smell means the engine has been running too hot.
None of these show up on a warning light. They show up on the dipstick. Thirty seconds every day. That's all it takes π§β οΈ
