Team THS just returned for this years 2026 Barra Nats on the Daly river NT, we arrived a couple days early and got into helping out setting up and do what we could to help the hard working volunteers and coordinator in their frenzy to get everything set for the start. Big shout out to Bec and the Banyan Farm crew for some long days and hard work to make this comp so successful.
Day 1** Our team hit water on day one and hit our five fish bag but most were midsize 50 to 60cm fish, with Jess loosing her skirt on the first morning so she was pretty happy with that.
Day 2 ** We waited to first light to leave base due to busted props and sunk boats and blown gear boxes so we headed up with few other boats and found the fish had moved from yesterday but managed four fish bag and with one in the 70s we had great day.
Day 3 ** a repeat of day 2 leaving at false light with total white out fog on river and things were crazy, great day on water with 7 fish but 2 under size we held our bag with a 74 and 71 making it our best day.
Day 4 ** started like all others but the fish had gone into hiding and we only managed one 60 cm which dropped us down the field some, beautiful day but just no fish and everything we tried didn’t work or dropped fish or hit and spit lures.
Day 5 ** with the last day here we tried a new approach went way down the river looking for clean water and found all the fish in the clean water in amongst the fallen trees just chilling in the warm water, this is where we managed our full bag and some with two over 80 hitting the tape and giving us a great finish to the comp.
What an amazing week on the water with record fish and hundreds of crocs each day and buffalo and pigs all over the place, some against fisherman and woman and once again Banyan Farm put it on for us all, big thanks to all the crew and special thanks to John who at 74 work his arse of to help anyone needing a hand, especially our team from Queensland.
On the last night we cleaned up on raffles and won elusive chain saw, and Jess winning the best photo group for the comp for our team and an amazing Transducer Pole golden stand which will be an awesome addition to our boat.
Thanks to my team VIk and Jess for making it an amazing comp, until next year.
Bring on 2027 Nats .
