SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT 🎉
❤️🏃♂️ A meeting that meant more than we realised
Sometimes you meet someone by chance, and the connection stays with you.
On the train in Sydney, on the way to the marathon start line, we met “The Running Cricketer” from the UK. What started as a simple meeting turned into a conversation about something much bigger — family, cancer, running and giving back.
He was taking on the challenge to raise money for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, supporting families where a parent is living with incurable cancer and helping children and families through one of life’s toughest journeys. The Foundation has now joined forces with Maggie’s so that even more families affected by cancer can receive support.
We were lucky enough to receive these special shoelaces from him, and they now mean so much more than just a pair of laces. They represent hope, courage, family and the power of people coming together to help others.
And on the very same day, my wife took on her first ever marathon, raising money for breast cancer — and she finished with a bang! ❤️🏃♀️
Two people. Two different journeys. One common purpose — to make a difference for families affected by cancer.
It was an absolute pleasure meeting you, mate. Thank you for the laces, the conversation and the inspiration.
