What a great night celebrating Bathurst business! ✨

On Saturday night we attended the Carillon Business Awards as finalists in Excellence in Customer Service – Trade, Services & Motor Industry.

While we didn’t come home with the award, we had a wonderful night celebrating alongside so many fantastic local businesses and people.

There really are a lot of people doing great things in our local area, and it was lovely to have an evening that recognised and celebrated that.

A highlight for us was seeing Peter Rogers, Frances Hickson and Kerry Peck recognised in the Carillon Business Awards Hall of Fame for their immense contributions to our local community over many decades. Such a wonderful addition to the awards.

A big thank you to the Bathurst Business Chamber for putting together such a great evening, and to Bathurst Goldfields — the venue, food and service were absolutely beautiful.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and finalists. We were very proud to be amongst you. 🏆

How Do I Look After My New Windscreen After Replacement?

Once your new windscreen has been fitted, a little care during the first day will help protect the new installation.

Here are a few simple things to remember:

🚗 Safe drive-away time

When your windscreen is replaced at our workshop, we will let you know when your vehicle is ready for collection. The collection time already includes the required safe drive-away time.
For a mobile replacement, the vehicle must remain stationary and not be driven for at least 1.5 hours after installation.

🚪 Close the doors gently

For the rest of the day, avoid slamming the vehicle’s doors. Closing them gently helps minimise unnecessary pressure inside the vehicle while the adhesive continues to cure.

Opening a window slightly before closing the door can also help.

💦 Wait before washing your vehicle

That new-windscreen feeling may make you want to wash your vehicle and give it the full fresh treatment!

Please avoid automatic car washes and pressure washing around the windscreen for the first 24 hours.

🟦 What about the tape?

Tape may be used as a precautionary measure following installation. We remove it before collection whenever possible.

If tape has been left on your vehicle following a windscreen replacement, it can be removed within the first 12 hours. Please ensure it is removed by the following day.

If the tape gets wet, begins to lift or starts peeling away sooner, it can be removed.

Any instructions specific to your vehicle will be explained when the work is completed. If you are ever unsure about caring for your new windscreen, please ask—we are always happy to help.

Is Choice of Repairer Included in Your Insurance?

Whether you’re arranging insurance for a new vehicle or renewing your existing policy, a lower premium can look like the best value but have you checked what choices you may be giving up?

One detail that is easy to overlook is choice of repairer.

Depending on your insurer and level of cover, choice of repairer may be included or available as an optional extra.

If your policy includes choice of repairer, you can nominate a qualified repairer you know and trust.

Without it, your insurer may decide who completes the work or direct you to a provider within its network.

This is worth considering for any vehicle, but particularly with today’s modern vehicles.

Today’s windscreens can include cameras, sensors, aerials and heating technology. The correct glass needs to be identified and fitted properly, and ADAS-equipped vehicles require calibration as part of the windscreen replacement process.

It is also important to know that windscreen cover and choice of repairer are not necessarily the same thing. You may have excess-free windscreen cover without being able to choose who completes the work.

We can’t tell you which policy is right for you—but we do encourage you to make an informed choice.

Before taking out or renewing your insurance, ask:

🔹 Does my policy include choice of repairer?
🔹 Does it apply to windscreen and vehicle-glass claims?

If choice of repairer costs a little more, consider whether having greater control over who works on your vehicle is important to you.
The best time to understand what your policy includes is before you need to make a claim.

Why Does My Vehicle Need ADAS Calibration After a Windscreen Replacement?

For many modern vehicles, replacing a windscreen involves more than simply removing damaged glass and fitting a new one.
Many vehicles are equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

These systems can include features such as:

🛣️ Lane departure warning and lane keeping assistance
🛑 Autonomous emergency braking
🚦 Traffic sign recognition
🚗 Adaptive cruise control and other driver assistance features

In many modern vehicles, a forward-facing camera mounted to the windscreen is an important part of the vehicle's driver assistance systems.

When the windscreen is replaced, this camera must be calibrated. Modern windscreen replacement is about more than fitting glass it is about ensuring the technology connected to your vehicle continues to function as intended.
