VK Group A #297 FOR SALE - A lovely example of one of the most iconic and collectible Brock Commodores ever built – the 1985 HDT VK SS Group A…better known as the Blue Meanie.
This is Build No. 297, in original condition, that has travelled 101,781 kilometres since new.
Build No. 297 was purchased new at Young & Green Holden in Newcastle NSW in August of 1985.
In excellent mechanical condition the car has been maintained from day one it comes with original logbooks, HDT verification, original purchase receipt, historic registration papers and receipts for maintenance performed over the decades.
The interior remains completely original — from the trim, carpets, and hood lining to the working factory radio — all in excellent condition.
The vehicle rides on factory HDT Aero directional wheels wrapped in modern tyres.
Featuring the original spare wheel fitted with a day-one Bridgestone Potenza, along with the original jack bag and tools.
To meet Group A racing rules, 500 VK Group A SS models were built, featuring a de-stroked 304ci (4.9L) V8 to allow weight savings on track. HDT built the engines with serious intent — roller rockers, a race-spec cam, L34 rods, double-row timing chain, and a modified manifold, HDT extractors and a cold-air intake — all good for 196kW at 5200rpm.
The interior includes Group A Scheel front seats, in Light Cerulean, Momo wheel and gear k**b, a basic stereo.
The exterior colour is the unmistakeable Formula Blue.
Having reached legendary status, the Blue Meanie is a most sought-after Aussie Icon.
