What is happening to the fuel we are getting theses days? This carburettor bowl was the result of sitting for 3 months. I have seen fuel separation before but never the strings that formed in this bowl. Thinking they were parts of a separating fuel hose was quickly put to rest when I touched them and they dissolved with the heat of my finger. I have asked around the trade to see if anybody has seen this before, unfortunately I'm no closer to an answer. If anyone has seen this and knows what it is let me know. Bring back the good old days when you could leave fuel for 12 months and still have no separation.

Day 5: Last day of the fishing and Gerard went down with an illness which left Rick and myself to carry on for the team. We got 18 Barra each but unfortunately none legal to add to our competition. However I did get a kicker with a thread fin salmon of 66cm, Rick up graded with a nice mangrove jack. Which left me short by one Barra for a full complement. That left me in 3rd with 2.51mt, Krew in 2nd and Bailey the winner with the full compliment at 3.2mt and some change.

Day 4: 37 Barra caught, best was a 66cm to Gerard, a great mangrove jack was also caught by Gerard. One of our toothy friends up here decided to hang around for a photo.

Day 3: Another day on the water, bringing another 32 barra 3 legal for our boat and plenty of finger mark and a nice thread fin salmon for the other boats. Lead has gone to Krew with 2 legal Barra and a nice 77cm thread fin salmon to a total of well over 2 meters fo 3 fish.

Day 2: Still a slow day for Weipa standards. 21 Barra today for our boat 16 and 12 on the other boats with Gerard the only one to enter the leader board with a 62cm Barra putting him into 2nd.

Day 1: Slow day today compared to previous years. 30 Barra, nothing huge, largest 61cm average about 40cm. The other boats had a less productive day one got 10 Barra and the other got nothing. Our agreed competition this year is the largest 5 legal Barra caught combined length which you can substitute a table fish. The leaders so far is Rick with 61cm and Bailey with 119cm. The smallest fish also goes to Rick, see the photo below.

Two years gone by and back to the air to fish Weipa for the next 5 days. Hopefully plenty of fish picks and stories to tell over the coming days.

Well it's that time of year. Closer to Christmas than you think. Time to service those engines, large and small. We are all ready booked till the end of October. So I would suggest booking soon for the Christmas holidays to avoid missing out or at least pulling the boat out of the shed and giving it a run so if there is a issue you will have time to get it rectified.

This boat was in for a service but no mention of poor sounder performance. Looking at the marks on the hull I would say somebody got confused about water line.
