You’ll be working on trucks, trailers, farm equipment, and heavy machinery - from diagnostics and servicing to rebuilds and repairs. Some after hours and weekend work involved.

Trade qualified with 5+ years’ experience
Can pass pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol testing
Valid driver’s licence (HR/forklift a bonus)

Can work independently and help lead/mentor apprentices

🚨 Exciting News! 🚨

We’re thrilled to announce that Shelly and Ben Cook have purchased Mrs Fixit! The business will now operate from the Cooky’s Diesel premises at 167 Browning Street, Portland.

Tracey had been looking to sell for a while, and when the opportunity came up, we couldn’t pass it by. Mrs Fixit plays a vital role in supporting local businesses, and without it, many would have been left stuck. We’re proud to keep it going and continue offering the same reliable service our community depends on.

We’re also very pleased that Tracey Tennant, the heart of Mrs Fixit, is staying on as part of the team. She’ll be working alongside Shelly to ensure a smooth transition and the same high standard of work you’ve come to expect. A huge thank you to Tracey for her continued dedication and support during the handover 🙌

Tracey and Amy will be finishing off all current jobs in a timely and professional manner, ensuring nothing is left behind as the business transitions.

Amy will soon be relocating her equipment to Digby, where she’ll continue to provide services to equestrian and rural customers. We wish her all the best and know she’ll keep doing amazing work in the community.

5 YEARS STRONG!

Today marks 5 years since Cooky’s Diesel Mechanic Repairs first kicked off—starting with Cooky working out of his ute, tools in the back, and a vision to build something solid.

Fast forward to today, and we’ve just moved into a bigger, better workshop to keep up with the demand. It’s been a huge journey of growth and hard work with enough busted knuckles and empty coffee cups to prove it!

A massive thank you to our loyal customers, suppliers, and the Portland community for your continued support! And of course, to our dedicated team who keep the wheels turning every day.

🚨 Cooky’s Diesel Mechanic Repairs is Moving This Weekend! 🚨

We’re excited to announce that we are relocating this weekend from 2 Hill Court, Portland VIC 3305 to our new and improved workshop at 167 Browning Street, Portland VIC 3305! This move allows us to expand our services and continue providing top-quality diesel repairs.

🚛 Important Notice for Heavy Vehicle Access
We’ve received conditional approval for B-Double access with the following rules:

✅ Access Hours:
🔹 Monday to Friday: 7 AM – 7 PM (standard maintenance)
🔹 Saturday & Sunday: 9 AM – 3 PM (emergency repairs only)

✅ Speed Limit:
🔹 50 km/h between Learmonth St and Garden St

✅ Restricted Access:
🔹 No access permitted south of 167 Browning St. (No entry to Garden St)

✅ Additional Requirements:
🔹 No engine brakes – signage will be installed

We ask all drivers to respect these conditions and be mindful of residents in the area. Non-compliance will result in the termination of future work with our workshop. These rules are in place to ensure we maintain good standing with the local community and avoid access restrictions in the future.

Big job on a big vessel! 🛠️ We removed the engine from this trawler and reinstalled it after getting it fully remanufactured by Cummins. Tough work, but our team is always up for the challenge!

We are seeking a fully qualified Diesel Mechanic with prior experience to join our team with an immediate start.
In this role you will be required to perform vehicle diagnostics, servicing, rebuilds and repairs to a wide range of truck, trailer, farm and heavy machinery with some after hours breakdown and weekend duties.
The successful candidate will require the following:
- Trade qualified with a preferred minimum of 5 + years experience in heavy vehicle repairs
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing
- Current and valid Car License (HR & forklift preferred but not essential)
- Have an exceptional eye for detail and a strong commitment to safety
- A proactive and positive attitude, with a strong work ethic
- Understanding of computer software and ability to complete service documentation
- Ability to work autonomously and mentor and motivate other workers including an apprentice
